    Hello,

Trying to put back together my daughter's Prius Touring...This model has the Active Grille Shutter. The Active Grille Shutter has one harness with 2 Separate Connectors. One connector has been matched and paired but one connector is stumping me. I can't find its pair. I am sure that it does have a connection, since Techstream is reading an error: Lost Connection with Active Grille Shutter Module. I have enclosed 2 pictures of the connectors - If someone can tell me where their larger connector is going to - it would be greatly helpful!

    Thanks!

In the Electrical Wiring Diagram, available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com, the Radiator Shutter Sub-Assembly is shown as having only one connector: A36, a four-position, black, sealed connector. The six-position connector in your second photo looks like it could be connector C4 for the Throttle Body Assembly.

How did it come to be disconnected, due to accident, for access, or?

If there's no damage involved, the two sides of the connection must be near to each other. Just get good light in there and look hard?

Story: with a previous vehicle, I took the front bumper off, and at reinstall I noticed it seemed a stretch to get one connection put back together, the wires barely reached. Thought nothing of it, and later, driving the car, everything was fine, until: I tried to signal a left turn, and got sporadic squirts of wiper fluid instead. :ROFLMAO:

The car was in a front end impact. The AGS was purchased from the local Toyota Dealer (VIN matching to the car). The AGS has one harness - ending with two separate connectors. One is a 4 position connector, which has been connected to its pair and another connector - the 6 position one. Techstream will not communicate with the AGS, as if it's not even there (although plugged in). That is why I imagined the second connector must go somewhere? The picture enclosed shows the 4 pin connector (connected).

This is what the harness from the AGS looks like along with the connectors and corresponding error code.
P.S. My "tech" Bella is also in the background helping out wherever possible...

Unless the AGS has its own fusible link? (that its not listed anywhere?)

Good luck! Hopefully some one with fourth gen smarts will come along. Or maybe Bella will sniff it out. (y)

Thanks for sharing the additional photos. I checked the European and Japanese editions of the Electrical Wiring Diagram, which show that the six-position connector is used on cars built for those markets instead of the four-position connector used on the U.S. version. I don’t know why, since there are still only four terminals used: GND, +B, CANP, and CANN. Perhaps the service part has both connectors, wired in parallel, so it can be sold worldwide. I think you can leave the six-position one disconnected.
As for DTC U028487, I’d suggest doing the power and CAN bus checks in the Repair Manual under Power Source/Network: Networking: CAN Communication System: Grille Shutter Communication Stop Mode, especially since the car has been in a collision that might have damaged wiring or loosened connectors.

The Repair Manual and Electrical Wiring Diagram are available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com. Your local public library sponsors free access to the ChiltonLibrary service, which has the text and illustrations from the Repair Manual; after selecting 2016 Toyota Prius, find the section I mentioned above under Repair > Diagnostics > Networking > CAN Communication System > Grille Shutter Communication Stop Mode.

Привет, можете ли вы иметь схему выводов контактов плавающих затворов для Prius 2017 года? После аварии были только голые провода. заранее спасибо

    Google Translate says:

can you have a pin diagram for floating gates for the 2017 Prius? After the accident, there were only bare wires. thank you in advance

Thanks again! But after the connector A36, I have not even saved the wiring! You can describe the further connection through the colored wires, the connection of the actuator and the position sensor of the dampers. I have already soldered the wires, because the chip itself is broken. thank

Hello, did you manage to resolve the issue of connecting the wiring? Do you have an electrical circuit? I have a similar problem, but there is no connection cable at all. Perhaps you have preserved photos with the color of the wires on the connectors? thank

Later editions of the system circuit diagram for the Grille Shutter do show another connector, z25, with six terminals, numbered 1 through 6 in order from left to right, for the connection between the Radiator Shutter Sub-Assembly and the Swing Grille Actuator Assembly. The diagram doesn’t indicate the wire colors, however.

Some terminals on z25 are shown as connected directly to terminals on A36:

    A36 terminal 2 (CANP) to z25 terminal 6 (CAN-P)
    A36 terminal 3 (CANN) to z25 terminal 5 (CAN-N)
    A36 terminal 4 (+B) to z25 terminal 1 (+B)

A36 terminal 1 (GND) is connected in parallel to z25 terminal 3 (GND) and to the common of the End Shaft Switch, a normally-open, SPDT switch. The other contacts of this switch are connected to z25 terminal 2 (SEN-1) and z25 terminal 4 (SEN-2). The diagram doesn’t indicate which contact is which, however.

Maybe you have the opportunity to lay out the electrical circuit?

    From the Electrical Wiring Diagram:
    Grille-Shutter-z25.png

It’s regrettable that Toyota didn’t include the wire colors, but perhaps they consider that part of the internal wiring of the part and not serviceable in the field.

Hello, please help with the electrical circuit on the front parking sensors, there were no terminals of the three-contact connectors. Maybe you have a chart with pinouts for colors?

There are nine different connectors, with different color/terminal combinations, which is more than I can post here.

Fortunately, this part of the wiring is the same in the U.S. and European versions of the car. You can refer to the Electrical Wiring Diagram for the Prius ZVW50, available by subscription to toyota-tech.eu. After you subscribe, see the System Circuit pages for Intelligent Parking Assist; click the Print icon to get a PDF document that includes the schematic and connector layouts.
