Mind sharing the dealership and sales person? I’m in the market for a prime and reside in the Bay Area.

Just curious how it was driven for 4000 miles and 8 months old and never been registered. Driven with a dealers tag all this time?

Happened to me before. Paper work on my last leased car fell thru the crack, dealer forgot and I was too busy to follow-up, rocked dealer plate for about a year. It was a Honda dealer.

    Hello Everyone,

A new member here. I am from the Greater Boston (New England) area. I am researching on the Prime (looking for a premium or adv version) . I am using my Employer's car buying program (works through a tie up with Truecar platform). I am tracking the inventory (from their individual websites) and prices from about 15 dealers in the Greater Boston area. I started this activity about a week ago. I am collating the info from these 15 dealers. All this info is through email-No calls involved. Not sure if this can change/go up when i visit the store. (the usual dealer tricks..) Here are some of the best deals that I've got for now:

    1. 2017 Advanced trim: (Found just two 2017 Primes in the dealerships around Boston)
    MSRP: 34679
Selling price Before taxes , Doc fees etc: 27999 (Toyota cash rebate 2500, dealer discounts 4179)

    2. 2018 Plus trim:
    MSRP: 28528
Selling price Before taxes , Doc fees etc: 22528 (Toyota cash rebate 2500, dealer discounts 3500)

    3. 2018 Premium trim:
    MSRP: 30398
Selling price Before taxes , Doc fees etc: 24164 (Toyota cash rebate 2500, dealer discounts 3734)

    4. 2018 Advanced trim
    Quote 1:
    MSRP: 34832
Selling price Before taxes , Doc fees etc: 28427 (Toyota cash rebate 2500, dealer discounts 3904)

    Quote 2:
    MSRP: 34518
Selling price Before taxes , Doc fees etc: 28108 (Toyota cash rebate 2500, dealer discounts 3910)

Each of these quotes is from a different dealer. All of these dealers are with in 50 miles from Boston.
I am guessing I got good quotes because:
    1. I went through my employer program.
    2. Some of these quotes could go up once I do an actual visit to the dealership.
    3. Dealer discounts are going up probably because the year end is approaching fast.
    4. All the delas (Mentioned above) came from dealers that either had huge inventory or had the car sitting on their lot for some time.

Hope this info helps. I literally got bombarded with about 180 mails in the last 1 week. I will update if I find any new info soon.

    Three things keeping me waiting:
    1. I am yet to get quotes from a few more dealers. Would like to compare all the quotes some time next week.
    2. I am hoping Toyota would increase the Toyota cash to $3500 in November. Towards the fag end of 2017 (and start of 2018) Toyota gave $5000 cashback for the 2017 model. Hoping something of that sort would happen this year too.
    3. I am a cash buyer and already have a car , so willing to play the waiting game till the year end.

This is my first time buying a new car. (My earlier two cars were preowned cars). The more I stay in the market, the more I get to know how the new car market works. so kinda keeps me interested. But yeah, I will make the purchase before end of Dec 18.

Spl note about Richard Klink: A very responsive and helpful person.

Similar pricing from DCH toyota of Milford. About $300 Higher at Westboro Toyota

    Quote 2:

    Dealer: Bernardi Toyota Framingham
Wouldn't recommend the piece at Bernardi. Nothing against the dealership - They have just one advanced trim in their inventory - and it has been sitting there for months - so they priced right to get it off their lot.(Nearest dealer for me- have been visiting this dealership for a couple of months, when a friend was buying a camry) They have it inside their showroom- More like a demo model. Could have additional issues too.

The funny thing is, I got this low quote from Bernardi when I wrote to them (over email) clearly mentioning that I was getting prices from at least 8 other dealers. Now, when my friend visited the showroom the other day, he casually asked for a quote for the same car, they quoted selling price before taxes $29,500 (about $1500 higher than what they offered me over email.) Seems like Email solicitation works pretty well, at least on the price.

Another point to note: Inventory levels at
Prime Toyota Rt2 have gone down from 28 cars last week to just 11 as I post this. Seems like they had a sale of sorts for Primes in the last 1 week.

Took delivery today on a red Plus with a couple options in New England:

    MSRP:$29,103
    Dealer discount: $2,332
    Toyota rebate: $2,500
    Taxes and fees: $2,213
    Out the door: $26,484

    State rebate: $1,500
    Fed tax credit:$4,502
    Total cost: $20,482

Sold previous car to Carmax: $4,000
    Added 7 yr/100k extended warranty: $995*
    All in cost: $17,477

*Would love to get your thoughts on the extended warranty. Usually I don't go for them, but I had a lot of electrical/sensor/computer issues with my previous car (ford focus) so am a bit sensitive to repair issues like that. Also figured it doesn't take much to get the $995 back at an hourly labor rate of $112.

Thanks coach81! Happy with the price and even more so the car. I'm planning on tracking service and repair costs over the life of the vehicle and mapping these to the respective warranties to get a sense of the value that each provides. However, its going to be a while before I know if the extended bumper to bumper was worth it. Once I start having service done I'll likely start a thread on the maintenance boards if folks would find it useful.
