    Morning,

My wife and I made the decision to finally purchase a hybrid. Since this is a test of how they will work for mainly for commuting to work we decided to start off with a high mileage used purchase. Maybe after a few years and we get some debt paid down we might consider a newer lower mileage vehicle.

What we ended up with is a 2006 Gen 2 one owner with 223,000 miles. They had it maintained mainly at the dealer most of its life and it was used to commute for work. They stopped driving it about 4 months ago when they purchased a Honda Fit. I also gather it was due to the P1121 check engine light they kept getting. Mechanic quoted around $500 to repair.

Going to pick up the valve tonight and swap it out tomorrow. On the way home the car was getting 54mpg on what my daily drive would be. Looking forward to seeing if we can learn this curve since when we had an Leaf it didn't work for the distance in the winter.

Check the service record and see when the inverter pump was replaced. If it was over 100k miles ago, change it the same time you do the valve. Same with the coolant change, if over 50,000 miles since last change, change it now. They are all related and easier when done together

The last coolant change was done at 190K miles so still have a little before I need to do a full drain and refill. Though after swapping out the coolant valve I lost about 1/2 of the coolant in the system. Hoping to get thru the winter and will look at doing the change in the spring.

On the inverter pump, looking thru the logs I don't see anything about it being changed. Though it was serviced at the same time the coolant was flushed. I will look at getting one on order since they aren't to expensive and in some ways watching the videos are easier to swap then the valve.
