That's bad, real bad, like panic bad, lol! Unless you hit that panic button a lot, I would put it back in place and duct tape over it.

All you need is a very very tiny drop of Super Glue. And then buy one of those little leather key Fob slip-on cases.

That Fob looks like it's been thru a war!

I wonder what would happen if you just popped the case open and dropped that bit back into place from the inside.

I'm not sure how it popped out, or whether it would happen again, but it would be an easy way to find out.

The plastic shells are not hard to find on eBay for cheap. You just move the insides over.

You know this happened to my Gen-2 a while ago. My keys are treated well and the other keyfobs on the same ring are all in near mint condition. Only the Lexus ones are wrapped in leather because the dealerships do that for free, so everything else is exposed.

One day I pulled out my keys and was like... "huh... where'd that button go?" I didn't keep it like you did. Then I thought about buying a new fob, a used fob and programming it, buying a shell and swapping, etc. But as I was thinking over a couple weeks, I realized I liked it better this way. That little button is so recessed now that nothing will accidentally set it off. I hate the panic buttons in general because I don't need my car honking like a madman in the middle of the night because the fob got jostled and the button hit.

So it's been 3 years? Maybe 4 years now, no cover or anything. I like it better that way. So you may want to think how you use it and if it is even worth fixing.

But to fix, the button usually has little tabs on the top that flare out. the key cap has little recesses. The tabs on the button deform and flex to allow to the cap to go on and then they snap into place holding the button in from the inside. To put it on, you would squeeze the button with some tweezers as you put the cap on straight down symmetrically. It will snap into place and be done.

A new case goes for as little as $10. Check eBay/Amazon. Biggest problem is taking apart the old case (Gen2s are glued). Needle nose pliers spread in the mechanical key opening will do it. Transfer over both the circuit board and the transponder chip to the new case.

Call some locksmiths in your area.....to find one that does car remotes.

My number 1 fob was cracked enough that I transferred the circuit board and the black RFID to a new case (quite easy but it's vital that you transfer both items) and then slipped a protective silicone sleeve over it to protect it. My wife's fob (#2) was only missing the button like yours so we have that one in a zipper leather fobholder. The links to all three things we purchased from Amazon are below. All three products are excellent and they're very reasonably priced.

It didn't seem to be hurting much but I did notice when I took mine apart a lot of dust and pocket lint had accumulated inside the fob over the years through the missing buttons and cracked fob spaces. Since they're so reasonably priced and I'm happy with my replacement case I'm going to order another case and give it as a stocking stuffer to my wife for Christmas. After I transfer those contents she can put her "new" fob in the zippered case.

The links you posted don't work, at least for me.
Probably because they aren't real "links".

Could it be a browser issue? I used Google to get to each item on Amazon and copied the https: link directly from the address bar. Other people have had success linking through others I have posted this way. It should be easy to find them with the prices showing on the screen. The silicone sleeve ($6.98) is sold by Ezzy Auto and is an "Amazon's Choice" item. The leather case is sold by Buffway ($9.99) and fullfilled by Amazon. The plastic replacement case is sold by USA Remote through Amazon. I received free shipping on all three of them.

Go back to your post and either EDIT it or QUOTE it to see what really is there.
When you look at your own post do you see a clickable link ??

No edit button and no links are showing on any of my posts above. A quote button is there but the Amazon links don't show in the quote. What is causing that? I haven't run into this problem before.

This is what I see in a quote.
Modified slightly so they would actually show up as text.
