If one buys a Prime out of state because of insufficient local supply, other than driving the car home, is it reasonable to have it delivered on a truck bed?

What city has the lowest out the door prices?

Yes that was quite common when PiP came out. It was much cheaper in MD so many Ca. folks got it and shipped. You're talking in the ballpark $1000 to ship, I think.

If out of state is 100miles away that's very different than if you're in California and purchasing from New Jersey. You don't mentioned your location.

But yes $1k for an open carrier is about average for 2500mi or so of travel. You'll be on a shared car carrier.
