Thanks everyone. I guess I stopped getting email notifications on my post so I missed on comments.

The 12 v battery battery is fine. The hybrid battery is starting to go which is what we thought. The engine is also "gunked up". The garage claimed they can't legally let us drive it which is not accurate.

We ended up at AutoZone and the code reader showed nothing wrong.

We brought it to the dealer actually. They said our injectors need cleaning, our hybrid battery is dying, and that they "can't legally let us drive" the car off the lot.

We do our own oil changes so I think it is just burning more. My dad had his prius for 250,000 miles and he was burning a quart a month.

We are going to use some seafoam unless you can suggest something else.

For the battery, my dad has replaced the cells before. We are going to see if we can replace the dead/dying cells with help from our mechanic neighbor. If not, I will have to persuade a dad visit! We had contemplated upgrading to a newer used model, but have medical bills coming soon.

Luckily, we have an '07 yard as a backup car, but much prefer our more spacious prius! Thanks a bunch for your help though. We are fighting the bills so hopefully we can remedy the car issue!
