I purchased my Prius 3 Touring because I like having a spare tire but mine also came with ATP installed. I have had Homelink/Auto-Dimming Mirror in all my cars so I thought that this one would be easy. After searching the forum, I found out that it wasn’t going to be so easy but last weekend after gathering the parts that I needed, I can say that I have one that works. Parts: Gentex GNTX-453 from a Toyota, used - $40.00 ebay Gentex Wiring harness, new - $25.00 ebay Gentex 50-BRKTEXT Wedge Mount Extension (needed two), new - $70.00 ea or $140.00 ebay Grand Total: $205.00 Now I could have gotten away with only using one wedge mount extension and the ATP cover just barely installed but I had no room above the mirror for my Scangauge II, so I have to use a second extension (connected to the first one). Because of this, I had to cut/trim the ATP cover with a Dermal tool. For power, I routed the wiring down the driver side A pillar and tapped power from the wiring down next to the dead man foot rest. If anyone needs some better pictures I can try to post more.
With one mount extension did you have to cut/Dremel the cover? Were there any clearance issues or problems with moving the mirror around? I'm thinking of trying this if everything works okay with one extension.
I was able to get the cover on with only one extension but it was a tight fit. If I remember right, I installed the extension first, then the cover and then install the mirror and it worked. You might be able to do the same but if not, just very minor trimming with a dremel would be needed.
Thank you Adam1a for your guidance and inspiration. I just fininshed installing a Gentex GNTX-453, with a compas and harness from a Sienna, 50$ from Ebay. Sonata Rearview Mirror Auto Dim Hidden Compass Homelink ZTVHL3 GNTX-453 015894 I selected a Extension from Amazon, 45$ Rostra 250-8602 1" spacer for use with wedge mount rearview mirrors I looked at this youtube for help removing the covers.. Used a plastic tool to get the cover loose, pry near the headliner down into the car. The New Mirror would normally have Key Power when running (for the Dimming and Compass Pin7), Ground Pin10 and Always on, (for the Homelink Red Wire on large Connector) I Found the Ground and Key Power on the Connector to the Camera, and selected the Overhead Light for Always on.. or 20 Minutes after Car is turned off.. Here is a Youtube showing removing the Overhead Light.. I had to pull hard to get it loose. I chose to Tap the Connectors by crimping a Paperclip wire to bare wires, and pushing into the back of the connector, then using a zip tie to hold in place. After removing the old mirror, the new one has a shorter length... with no spacer, the mirror would not raise to an angle I could see out the back window.. with one spacer, I had to trim both pieces of the cover, and then I could put the covers back without having to force them to fit. Best of luck,
