The right rear corner of my car - I think that backmost panel is called the fender, right? - appears to be diverging from the panel in front of it. I've had this car for about 3 weeks now. I wouldn't say the panel was perfect when I got the car, but I kind of think it was not so misaligned when I originally picked the car up.

I'll keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse. Does anyone know what might be happening here? Since it's the right side, it's protected when I park on the street. I park in a garage at work, but the parking spaces are very wide here, and I don't see any scuffs on the fender that would indicate vehicle contact. When I got the car, there were some light horizontal scuffs on this panel, which I had the dealer buff out prior to delivery. They did a reasonably good job of it.

For comparison, here are 2 pix from the day I picked the car up. You can see the panel is very slightly misaligned but I think it appears to be better than it is today.

That's the rear bumper cover. It's soft plastic because they get hit all the time, and yours has been hit.

They are held on with little plastic pop-clips, which tend to shear off when exposed to much force. All of this is done to reduce the cost of collision repair.

The clips along that edge are probably broken, and the cover is shifting around due to all other forces acting on it. Remove the cover, replace the clips and it should be fine.

Go with what Leadfoot told you up there. Mine popped like that once when I tapped it with my dads riding mower. Barely tapped it and "pop". Luckily no scratches though. I'm not the one who fixed it, so I can't tell you how it was done. My son took care of it for me as he was there that day. I continued mowing the grass.

lol - the rest of the Country (well those of us in the middle) are keeping our fingers crossed it "finally" breaks away. :)

You might wish the blue states break away... But then again, blue state taxes pay for most of the welfare and other government spending in impoverished do-nothing red states. So be careful what you wish for.

Holy Friggin crap where did this come from? Since I was a kid it's always been a running joke that California break away. It had absolutely nothing to do with politics.

    Seriously....? Un-friggin believable.

{edit} - Spelling auto correct must have missed it's coffee this morning - had to come back and fix it.

actually I'd say believable. Everyone is tense with the election looming. I admit I wasn't quite sure what you meant by it, but that's on me.

Thanks for clarifying that you meant it in the popular cultural joke context epitomized by the 1978 Superman movie.

People must be... Politics make me sick and I can’t stand all these commercials. So many crooked people and why they all get voted back in I’ll never understand. But for future reference for all - I’m not on either side of the fence. I have views that align with both and wish they, like me would seek compromise between themselves for the better of all

Sadly I think it’s wishful thinking these days.

I feel the same way... I just wish we could go back to "small" government like we were originally. Every year, the fed gives itself more and more power.

Here in Georgia, the latest election seems to be from two points of view:
    Republican viewpoint:
She has a past history of corruption and being unable to balance her budgets. She's black, so she must be bad. Vote for the white guy that is corrupt, but less so.

    Democrat viewpoint:
He's a white male, so he's pure evil. Vote for Abrams, she's black and that's progressive.

Neither side really know what's going on with the actual politics... :(

Lol, smaller government promises is the most common lie of high level criminals... When politicians promise smaller government, what they mean is stealing all the resources and subsidies that government is trying to responsibly manage and give it away to their rich friends and pushing all the loss/costs off on national debt. And when people like yourself are so grotesquely gullible and believe every lie that comes out of their mouths democracy dies at the hands of your own inability to learn the truth and think for yourself.

What's worse, "small government" is also code for infantile Ayn Rand-ians perverted sense of justice in no longer having rules and laws protecting people from injustice so the criminals can be god-like and their crimes never have consequences. "Small government" in this context is the notion of thinking that the behavior of a selfish three year-old is what should define appropriate behavior in society. So sick of how brain dead people are who call themselves red.
