So if you are like me and took off the hubcaps to see nice looking wheels then sold the caps on eBay you are looking for replacement center caps.

I thought I'd post this to help anyone thats stressing over the measurements, I went with a 54mm cap that you really need to force in. And then from there you can put a fun sticker on it if you want or leave it chrome.

Stickrs I got that were a bit small but still fun:

The factory center caps for a Corolla are also a direct fit. That’s what I did on my Turd Gen.

Careful though: going from third to fourth gen the groove on the inside of the bore has shifted, making the center cap tabs incompatible. I think it'll still push on ok, but won't click into the groove?

Are the Gen 3s that bad that you're calling it a turd? :)

    It's a loving, affectionate term.

I love mine. If I could trade it for anything, it would be another Gen 3.

I have seen that some of the early Gen 4’s have wheels that are very similar to the as cast aluminum wheels on my Gen 3.

I don’t know why Toyota thought they needed to paint the wheels black, but hopefully they have fired the guy who thought that was a good idea.

My take is they were trying to further discourage owners from taking off the wheel covers? The switch from silver to black was in 2012 IIRC.

I’m actually glad it’s black. Black wheels goes well with any color. Or maybe it’s like the old steel rims with wheels covers :)

Steel rims used to be mostly silver too, and bare. Came with a chrome center cap (aka hub cap) that covered just the centre hub opening. Mid-eighties chrome trim ring accents started coming in. Then rims went from silver to black and full wheel covers (plastic) became the rage.

Walking the dog this morning, noticed this mid-eighties vintage civic:

    Admittedly not that purdy.
