In Camp Fire / Paradise, number of "unaccounted for" remains painfully large. One-third containment but apparently still effectively defending Chico (city) - that would be an even larger mess.

Electrical utility PG&E may have liability for "ignition". Whether or no, its stock has gone halfsies in a week. Utility stocks seem pretty interchangeable and not much barrier to running away.

And from fires on one coast, to severe snowstorms on the other. New York traffic -- 10 hour gridlock. (Another reason to keep that Prius gassed up.) Snow is something I can't relate to. I can't imagine trying to commute to work in that type of weather.

Has it ever been so cold, that a Prius won't start? Maybe bisco will check in from the East Coast, give us a weather report.

California North here. The east coast gets the punishing interior cold, we get the temperate Pacific air.

We always say that about California people, when it rains. I swear, most of the drivers speed up!
You would think the East Coast folks would be very familiar with driving in stormy & snowy weather, and be extra skilled/cautious?

I am so accustomed to warm & dry. I wouldn't last a week in those conditions! I wish everyone the best. Be careful and safe.

Some get impatient. Which can be understandable after being on the road for hours longer than normal.

I'd also say that some airport ground personnel don't know how to de-ice an airplane very well. With 4" of slush piled up on the wing (except right over the warmer fuel tanks), they were having a heck of a time getting it hosed off, as if they'd never practiced before that evening, wasting a lot of chemical fluid.

And it was a pointless exercise anyway. With heavy frozen precipitation still falling, plowing and taxi line delays prevented us from taking off before the de-icing validity window expired and real ice accumulated on the craft. We ended up waiting until the precip warmed up to all rain, naturally re-melting the wings and even most of the ground slush, and only then going through the motions of re-de-icing the plane, then sitting in the 'short' taxi line for 54 minutes (at least two dozen planes ahead).

i went through that back in the 90's during the start of a blizzard. all you can think about is the planes that crashed on takeoff because they didn't understand the need for repeat deicing.

then we take off, and it felt like we were struggling to make altitude. they announce we are the last plane to get out, then half way through the flight to cali, they announce we have to stop in salt lake city for fuel.

lost my taste for flying that day, but still had to get home.

    Its Toyota/Mobil 0w-20.
Just to make sure, that video isnt mine;)

About every modern car will start up in extreme temps with no worries if 12v battery is good condition. Things were little different with old cars. I had -82 Corolla and there was special ritual to get it running in cold, no worries anyone could steal it. But in the other hand, people knew many of these tricks to get car started...

I haven't yet taken time to watch the whole 18 minute video. But not long ago, there were only one of each of these supertankers, a single 747 and a single DC10. Have any more been built?
