Contact Toyota customer support and tell them the situation, They do help with problems just out of warranty. Good luck

Wow...that’s not good. I’ve had very good luck with out-of-warranty good will coverage by both Honda and Toyota. My experience is they’re pretty receptive to helping out- especially when the warranty has just expired. Honda paid $4K for a paint job on my 6 yr. old civic with over 100k miles. I found being willing to escalate the issue along with being both polite and persistent helped my case.

Would you be willing to offer some detail?

    -Who made the diagnosis?

-Details of diagnosis (failed water pump, radiator damage leading to coolant loss, etc...)?

-What symptom(s) led you to seek mechanical evaluation?

-Any symptoms prior to this point?

I'm guessing unless external damage was done to the car which caused something like loss of engine coolant, Toyota will help fully. Best of luck, of course!

Maybe the downstream egr cooler isn’t a good idea:oops:.

I guess clean the egr system early and often;).

But one data point, so we’ll keep our opinions to ourselves for now .

I've heard that TOYOTA (and Mazda, Honda etc) have been good at "goodwill" repairs of major items - provided it's been serviced by the dealer on schedule. They've made that argument here in relation to their "poor" warranty length-wise.

Sorry to hear. There haven't been too many problems with Gen 4 Prii yet.
Did you have the extended waranty?

Could be an isolated head gasket failure? Seems like low miles for EGR to cause it.

Yeah, all of the above. OP's first post, first day, hopefully more details to come?

This is terrible news. The gen 3 didn't start showing head gaskets till like 5 years and 100k+ miles. Well so much for picking up a 2016 in a couple of years for my road trip car :(

Meh, it's just putting a card in a gizmo, nothing to it. Painless. Till the end of the month.

Be patient - only partial news so far. We need to hear the diagnosis, and how TOYOTA dealt with it.
