Check your fuel delivery system and see if everything is connected and ok.

    Could be a fuel pump.

Hybrid battery could be anything, but Techstream could help confirm the cause.

To get the screws off of the egr valve, I use an impact screwdriver and it does the job.

Good luck and keep us posted.

    Thanks for your advice.
When i am trying to take out the thermostat housing I only unplug the water pump plug and the next plug to the top right, but i did plug them back together.

If I can smell gas when the car shut off itself does it mean the fuel pump is still ok? am I able to check it with the multimeter? I am new to the multimeter thing but I am open to try.

thanks for the advice on the impact screwdriver, I will uses this method next time when i try to clean the egr, if I still have the chance.
I live in the san francisco bay area everything is ridiculously expensive, even the cheapest hybrid battery mechanic would charge $350 to change a bad cell even I told him everything is removed and you can literally see the battery pack, yeah i guess i am the only cheap prius owner in the bay area.

Everything was good the day before, its really unbelievable to wake up and the prius is not running anymore after removing and reinstalling the thermostat housing.

At the beginning i was concerned about coolant getting into the big orange plus at the bottom, but it was glued up and I am very sure it is water proof because i pressure washed the engine bay weeks ago and everything was just fine. I am entering a very hopeless stage with this prius even i am still loving the prius.

You’re not the only one ;).

I just waited for another guy to pick up 5 oil filters for 45 minutes when he didn’t show when he said he would:cool:.

But I got them below cost, and I read the news on my phone, so no loss;).

But I’m out in Fairfield and the labor costs are high.

We have local meetups for folks that don’t have a place to work on their Prii:

Possible Monthly install meets. Bay Area-Fremont

Ive worked in the battery before and installed the Prolong harness on our 2010. I also share ownership of the equipment with 2 other members here;).

I would stay away from washing the engine bay. Our 2010 has seen 9 years of use and over 192 k miles and I’ve never washed it. Just take a dry rag or air to it every so often.

I’d check all plugs to make sure everything is plugged in.

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

I also struggled and gave up with those two @#&# screws. You can clean the valve quite thoroughly without disassembly, at least I was able with ours, not much build-up. I used just brushes and brake cleaner on that.

I gently tried an impact screw driver on the screws, but they were starting to get chewed up so I stopped. Ray had better luck with that though. I'd be inclined to find out what those screws are, have new ones on hand next time, then go at it till they do loosen, and if warranted: replace with new, not super tight, and with a little anti-seize.

I took a close look at them in past and was speculating these would do:

No need to be gentle with the impact screwdriver;).

Hit away while turning and they come right loose:).

Just watch your hand or hold it with a tool to keep your hand out of the line of fire (y).

I did manage to loosen the brake rotor hold-down screws on our daughter's Pilot with my impact screw driver. I got the the Kosher #3 JIS impact screw driver, wailed away at it for about 5 minutes, using a lightweight sledge hammer no less, my wife even gave it a try (came out due to the racket).

Then thought I'd try my old MasterCraft impact driver: one nice tap: done.

    That JIS was a POS...

Be sure that the PCV hose is connected to both the PCV valve AND the intake manifold, and that the large vacuum line is connected to the throttle body. Either of these oversights will cause the no-start engine codes P3190/91. P0A80 is a hybrid battery code and it's hardly ever a false code or a mistake. Are you sure you're not getting hybrid code P0A0F? This is the code which sets along with the P3190/91 when the engine fails to start.

Just swap them out for socket head cap screws(y)

Do you recall the (thread) diameter? I'm thinking M5. I guess the main thing: they were readily available, say at Home Depot?

Ray, are you and Mendel talking about the same thing? I am thinking of what I call an impact driver, not a screwdriver that is designed to be hit.

Amazon has 5 filters for $23, is yours a better deal? (Sorry folks, got off topic here):p

I got them for $25, but I may have found someone who piles on the miles and has a Gen4 ;).

So in the end we may get information on the Gen4 egr circuit :).

He has 35k miles already on his 2017, so maybe in another year or so we’ll have some data. His last Prius (2015) got retired via an accident at 300 k miles:eek:.

Taking a bigger picture view rather than a short term on this one as that data maybe worth the extra $2(y).

M5-.8x16, any decent hardware store/supplier, use a 4mm allen to drive

Of course it's a totally obsessive solution to a problem that doesn't exist:cool:. Getting the stock screws reasonably tight with a #2 phillips is all that's needed. Don't judge me for this:rolleyes::D:D...

What happens when you take that cap off? I'm hoping no springs shoot out?

It allows access to the plunger of the valve so you can move it back and forth;).

Makes cleaning it easier and ensures the seated position is cleansed(y).

Did you get any coolant on the electrical connector to the A/C compressor? The compressor is connected to the HV circuit, and any issues with that component may cause the P3190.

Are you thinking the 12 volt connector atop the AC compressor?

That is like a little cup, waiting for spillage atop the compress, and very difficult to repair, maybe impossible.

I had a bear of a time releasing that connector, then found with a pen knife, or something similar and very thin (even a typical screw driver blade is a bit too thick), you can release the locking tab quite easy, and off it comes.
