So I would take this as you did not use a torque wrench when you reassembled the battery?

Clearly not. Hence my question. You can also take this as I do not own a torque wrench of any kind, and am open to suggestion.

I’m pretty sure you can rent one at most auto parts stores if you do not want to buy one. I have seen the torques posted here somewhere, I’m sure someone will post them. There are stories here about cars catching fire due to not properly tightening the bolts. Now that you have that new battery you would not want that to happen.

I do plan to do more work that would probably require one (like changing my belt).

You might need more than 1. I think the battery connections are in inch-pounds and the belt uses foot-pounds. Generally you can’t use the same wrench for both. Getting the battery bolts properly tightened is FAR more important than the belt bolts.

I own 4 myself. 1/2 inch high foot-lb one for higher torques, 3/8 inch foot-pound one for the most used lower torques, 1/4 inch-pound model for inch-pounds, and a very old beam type one. My first torque wrench.

While it's possible that the nuts holding the cables in place on the modules that needed connected may not be as tight as they should (I was more worried about over tightening those and breaking), they felt just as tight as the rest of the bus bar nuts from the old battery. The nuts holding the cables in place near the ECU definitely aren't going anywhere!

That being said, I'd still like to make sure the job is done right.

    Tighten to 48 inch pounds.

Here are a couple of options at $20, they appear to be the same product with different item #s :

1/4 in. Drive Click Type Torque Wrench

1/4 in. Drive Click Type Torque Wrench

Thought these (and the other torque wrenches) sold for $15, and I've seen them sell for $10 during a holiday sale (Fathers day, etc)

There is a 25% off coupon if that makes a difference. Pretty sure they've jacked the price for the current coupon.. or tariffs.

Build quality is ok, and not sure how accurate they are, though I've used one for the above job with success.

Believe most/all of their hand tools are sold with a lifetime warranty.

Using a 1/4 inch torque wrench I tightened the modules to 48 in/lbs, the rest (including tie downs) were hand tightened until tight enough
