Hi all! Felt I should make an intro post after my first thread in the Gen 2 section here.

I'm a Gen 2 Prius admirer and specifically love the body style of the Gen 2. In the future, I would love to get one of them and have it converted to a plug-in to allow it to achieve up to 100 mpg. I hope there are still groups that continue doing them into the future. I also may look into joining a local Prius group soon so I can learn more about how to DIY maintenance first-hand.

I'm interested in EV tech as well, but am now focusing on finding a vehicle with high mpg and reliability until I move to a state that produces clean electricity. My interests have changed a lot since lurking here and reading many threads, and I can't thank you all enough for the honesty and resources you all provide. I have no doubt you all will be a Prius and hybrid/EV information sanctum well into the future. :) Thank you all again!

I do have another question, though: How would you feel if someone left a note on your Prius in the parking lot? I may have done so this morning as I parked next to the only Gen 2 Prius I've seen at my workplace. I've only seen it at a distance before, but since it was that close, I couldn't help but leave a note this time. Hope this doesn't come off as too odd, though, but I am pretty enthusiastic about Gen 2's and look forward to learning more about them here. I wanted to add a note about PriusChat, but felt that might push them away if they felt odd about the note already. Apologies if this comes off as odd to you, as well.

What did the note say? Can’t really make a judgment without knowing that.

It just said "Nice Prius! -an admirer". Didn't want to put much more than that, really

The reader could take that “an admirer” thing more than one way. If your curious about the car you should just say you would like to buy a Prius and could you ask some questions about their experiences.

There was a time when leaving a note on a car was not too bad of an idea. Today, a person can think all kinds of things behind the person leaving the note. Your intention was good. You could do as skibob suggests with another note. It would keep the person from wondering what your true motive is.

There was a huge Gen2 Plug-in Prius Hybrid scene on here with lots of startups selling kits back in the day... Toyota liked all the work so much they built their own Plug-in Prius and after that all those startups folded, so you can't buy plug-in kits anymore. But some of those vehicles are still out there. So if you did a thorough search for a year or so you could probably find a plugin Prius to play with.

Of course just spending $3-$4K on an old Prius and learning how to re-condition the battery pack will offer just as much fun as owning an EV, just not as good as gas mileage. :)

    Welcome to Prius Chat.

One thing Prius owners like to do is talk about their cars. If you can approach a Prius owner at the right time and right place they will tell you all about their car.

I speak very highly of the Prius and Toyota ;).

Where I work now and previously is very set in pick ‘em up trucks:cool:.

I’ve been able to get some to Corolla’s and others to Prii:).

Where I work currently I’ve converted 3 of my staff to Prii owners, one to a Prime ;).

Maybe you can find the owner and chat away(y).

Most of us can talk circles around a sales team at your local Toyota Dealership. We know our cars inside and out!

I met a Gen4 owner last Sunday to pick up some oil filters:).

He had a Gen3, but it got forced off of the road and he had to get a 2017:eek:.

Already 35k miles on the 2017:oops:.

Always good to talk to another owner(y).

I had to go to the pharmacy earlier this week, there is a restaurant that shares a parking lot with the pharmacy. At the restaurant there were parked a Gen 4, a Gen 3, a Gen 2 and a v. It was kind of strange to see that many Prii in the same place at the same time. I wonder if they are related, or if there is a group in my area that I don’t know about. I can’t go to work or come home from without seeing at least 1 Prius per trip.

As I mentioned before... You can occasionally find a Gen2 converted EV plugin for sale... And I just ran across one... We could be more helpful if we knew your location. I suspect this one is too far North from you, but if you want one: Clean 09 Toyota Prius Plug In Hybrid upto 100mpg - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive sale
