You can reset the maintenance light with the MID in maintenance setting or just look it up on youtube

Thanks for the info, but it's not maintenance light. TPMS light is on because there are no TPMS sensors in my winter set of wheels. Every morning, when I park my car near the garage where the summer tires with TPMS inside, the light goes off. No light for the first 10-20min, then it flushes and stays on until I come home to park near the garage.

I drove to Costco the other day with the OEM rims/tires in the hatch (tpms-less snow tires on the mounted): tpms light stayed off for the whole drive. Coming back with new tires on the OEM rims, luckily it still stayed off, hopefully because the didn't mess them up, not just because the system's slow to react. The did do the rebuild on them: I could tell by the green valve caps.

    (Saved the original caps...)

My TPMS light stays off now that I have the original wheels back on the car. Maybe I will mess with techstream this winter and see if I can get a copy that has the whole program to register different TPMS sensors. I have a new lawn building far enough away from my garage so when I swap tires in the spring the car won't get confused.

Carista is supposed to be able to register new TPMS sensors, but I have not yet read anyone reporting the use of Carista for that purpose. $20 for a dongle and first reset can be done on free 1 mo subscription. After that, you either have to buy an annual subscription for $40 or buy one-week activation for $10 twice a year. Maybe cheaper than handheld TPMS tool, or easier than messing with knock-off techstream.

My trouble is I am not highly motivated to mess with the TPMS sensors but I really should. Thanks for the idea.

I know what you mean. I messed with TPMS on my HCH, and burned over $800 in less than 5 years. The car still has two bad TPMS sensors. That makes 7 sensors in this period of which two bad sensors are still on the rim without repair. I now have external TPMS sensors on this car as well. The same one I installed on my Prime with no TPMS sensors in winter wheels. Winter tires and rims | Page 2 | PriusChat
