Need HELP/ADVICE - Water Dripping / Leaking Under Prius

Yes. Absolutely.
Your car does not contain any clear water in it anywhere.......except what condenses in the A/C.......and is supposed to drain out like that.

If you go to climate screen after you turn on the front defroster you will see the A/C is turned on by default. You can turn if off if you wish while the defrost is on. I do sometimes depending on the humidity. Always leave it on in the fog though.

Older Toyota’s like my 93 Camry you had to turn it on yourself. My 99 4-runner with the knob controls turns it on automatically when the knob is turned to defrost. You have no option of turning the A/C off.

 

It might depend on the generation and the country. My Canadian 2010, if AC is off when I switch the system off, when I hit "Auto", which is the only way to reactivate the system (as far as I know), the AC button remains unlit, and AC definitely isn't running. I'm not too impressed that the only way to turn the whole system on is by hitting Auto, but at least it leaves AC the way it was: off.

Again, this is not universal. From what I've read here it might be from 2012 on hitting Auto will activate AC.

This is something that ticks me off: I wish there was a way to turn the system on, and have it resume functioning exactly as it was when you turned it off. I often override the mode setting for example, set it to heat/defog. If I turn the system off and then on (pushing Auto), I have to again scroll through mode to heat/defog. At least it seems to always be the first "scroll", but I don't appreciate having to take my eyes of the road repeatedly to accomplish this.

 

Well this NealA fellow lives in the same state as me (California) and I can verify his version of it being humid in the winter here (he says 80%). That would account for the clear colorless liquid under the car. I wonder if his A/C drain is partially clogged though? 8 ounces after he stops the car seems like a lot. Might be normal though, just wondering.

 

My 4 runner used to drain for a long time after I parked. When the evaporator started leaking and I replaced it I found rotting leaves had formed a triangle of crud at the bottom of the evaporator over the years and basically stayed wet all the time rotting out the evaporator.
