I was trying to look into the best OBDII reader for my 2016 Prius and I need some help I saw some on Amazon with screens included and all that stuff but am confused, I have android phone for starters and am not sure what to get in terms of devices.

I also have no idea what type of Prius 2016 I have, any idea how I can find out?

To find out what type of Prius you've got you can plug in the VIN into the Toyota owners website and it will tell you, if I'm correct.

As for OBD readers, make sure it can read hybrid codes as well. A regular reader won't be able to fetch those.

If you have an android phone, OBDLink® LX Bluetooth | OBDLink® | OBD Solutions coupled with apps like Hybrid Assistance and Torque Pro would give you very good information. The native app that comes with OBDLink reads quite a bit of code, and they do sell Prius specific add-on. Carista is another OBDII dongle people seem to like on Prius, but I don't have experience using it and have no idea how capable it's code reading ability is. BTW, Hybrid Assistant: OBD app can be used with other cheap OBDII Bluetooth dongles as well, but they may be slow or not compatible in some cases.

That may not work in Jordan - doesn't seem to work here - maybe just USA? And the USA models leave us confused in the rest of the world where we have different names.

Find the model code on the label inside the left front door. This is a sequence of letters and digits with a hyphen (e.g., ZVW51L-AHXHBA is a Prius Three Touring or Four Touring built for sale in the U.S.A.), and along with the production month and year, is the most essential information for servicing and spare parts ordering.
As @alanclarkeau kindly notes, the Vehicle Specification page works for Toyota vehicles that were first sold in the contiguous U.S. or Alaska by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., but not for those sold elsewhere. (There is a similar page for Europe.)

Thinking about it further - have you looked in the front of the Owner's (or maybe Service/Warranty) Handbook (this is just a portion of the sheet)

Resurrecting this older thread as it seems more logical to my question:

Is the Carista OBD good enough to use the Hybrid Assist app?

Or is there another OBD reader that can do both the readings AND edit the customization features?

    Thanks in advance.
