That sounds better: direct injection only seems like a recipe for carboned-up intakes.

 

So which is better? I presume projector? Been rated yet by IIHS?

 

I assume that Toyota would claim that the multi reflector LEDs are superior to previous non LED headlights but, by putting projectors on higher level trims, they still imply that projectors are the best they offer.

By the way, I test drove a new Rav4 today (not the hybrid which is not out yet) while waiting for an oil/filter change on my Prius. Lots of new features and improvements over our 9 &11 year old vehicles. The video rear view "mirror" is quite interesting.

We are planning on becoming a 2 hybrid family. The Rav will become our main vehicle and I'll keep my 2010 Prius as my around town car. The Prius still drives like almost new while the Murano's ride is poor, even after replacing shocks/struts.

 

I just checked out Toyota's webpage. No real Nav as an option. Only that crapy Scout thingy.

 

Yes. Also, on the non hybrid: optional on the Adventure and the Limited. Whether it is worth it is another thing. It is bundled with the upgraded audio system and requires a subscription after the first 3 years for it to stay "dynamic"

By the way, as on the Prius Prime and the Lexus UX, there is a feature called Predictive Efficient Drive that "With navigation system operation, it analyzes driving habits and the expected road and traffic conditions to optimize hybrid battery charging and discharging." I assume that means that you would need the embedded nav for this to work. I wonder if any Prime drivers have noticed any benefit from this.

The Motor Trend issue with the comparison of the ICE RAV4 to the ICE CRV came today. They were using a pre-production model of the RAV4. They managed several pages and never once mentioned the different engine injection designs.They made no mention of any recalls nor did they in their long term road test. They made no mention of the CRV's 1.5L engine issues with valve deposits, gas in oil or cold weather heating inadequacies nor of the fix that was supposed to help but doesn't seem to be working. This for a car where real owner feedback is readily available on any forum like Honda CR-V and has been for many months so I don't accept their probable "publishing deadline" excuse.

 

My dealer had 2 base model ICE '19 RAV4s in stock and, on the way back from buying a mega-million ticket, I decided to look at one. Did little more than open the trunk (about the same size as my v's trunk), sat in the front and back seats. Overall impression was OK except for the size of the display screen. Didn't drive or even turn the key on but seemed conventional and comfortable. Sales lady was nice but typical in that she knew nothing about the car or the rollout of the hybrid. As a replacement for my wife's '11 Avalon it seemed OK to me but she is the one who will decide and her criteria are very different than mine.
