Hi. I have a 2007 Prius with about 260,000 miles. (This is a completely different issue from my other prius)

Recently once i open the door a buzzing high pitch noise stays on the enite time. The brakes become hard. The car runs fine though.

I know this can be the ABS system or a bad battery. Right? I did the battery test through the dash/navi screen and these are the readings

12.2- after sitting for 4 hours.

    11.9-11.6 accessory mode.

    11.8-11.4 when open door.

    14.1-14.2 when started the engine.

Could it be my battery? Or does the readings seem normal?

Also, does anyone know of a good hybrid mechanic in Connecticut?

    Thank you

Although the 12 volt battery does not look that good its tired its not going to cause what your seeing and hearing that's a bad abs actuator as you surmised. Classic high alert and hard brake pedal. Do not drive the car until its fixed.

use the search forum button up top and search

    abs actuator

there's hundreds of posts about it lots of info.

You're right, Christina. Most likely a bad brake pump. The battery is a little weak, but not weak enough to make the pump take that long to shut off. My 12V on my 2005 got down to about 8.5 volts before I realized what what happening.

A new brake accumulator for Toyota list $1700 but can be found online for $1200. A rebuilt can be found for approx $700. I just paid $525 for labor to install.

    SM-T700 ?

The family that we visit near Palm Springs is up until tomorrow and they have twin girls the same age as my son, so there is plenty of energy to burn going around;).

Just happy it wasn’t raining this weekend as penning up this energy would be bad:cool:.

My kids even slept in this morning so hoping for a repeat of that(y).

It will cost be 600.00 to fix with a used part. I rather do that then pay for a new car, do you think?
