From o2 sensor to engine replacement in 10 days?

    Went with the Bosch with a 4yr warranty from Pep Boys, with a 20% discount and a mail in rebate it's $111.99 (before taxes). Not too shabby. The others were $104 - $126 more (after discounts/rebates) with a 3yr warranty.

    The only things I need so that I can start are the metric sockets (I only have standard), the panel clip pliers and the windshield sealant. What a project this has turned into! It rained for most of the day, as predicted, and the sun will be setting soon. So I'll gather all items tonight, charge the new battery as suggested, and begin in the morning.

    Here's hoping that I don't find anything major when I tear it apart, and that I can get back on the road soon.

    Take your time and it'll all work out ok. The size socket/wrench you'll need is a 10mm for majority of the installation. Good luck

    Yes, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm

    I'll take as much time as I need, but the cost is adding up and I don't want to have to rent a car to get to/from work. I've been lucky so far with time previously scheduled off and co-workers being kind enough to switch/cover shifts for me. I, without my car for about 3 weeks, have managed to miss only 1 day (missing time doesn't count against us if we get the shift covered). My co-workers have been amazing and I'm not due back until Thursday, so I have some time.

    That's a tough interchange. Sometimes one works, sometimes it doesn't.

    I hope you get this battery in and get some real diagnostic codes on your car.

    Many auto parts retailers will have free loaner tools to complete any job, just gotta ask them when you buy the parts you're installing

    12mm would be best with 15/32" but that's not in most sets. There is always tolerance or slack in tool fit, some 1/2" will be tight enough to drive the 12mm you need. These aren't crazy tight.

    The body tools can be improvised too.

    I don't have that size. I think I'll pick up a few universals and call it a day.

    I have found that most all metric bolts are even values. I wish sets came without the odd 7, 9, 11, 13 mm etc.
    If the size appears odd it is likely SAE, not metric.

    All depends on where you turn your wrenches. I have found that everything held by a fastener with a 12mm head on my Japanese cars used a 13mm head on my (past) German cars. Somebody decided to use a little less metal.

    I just went and bought a new set, the ones I have are all over the place (lost the case years ago), and my brother will be happy to have them. There's nothing wrong with them, but I just made all of my future projects easier for me. :LOL:

    The only thing I wasn't able to find was the panel clip removal tool. Any tips on what I can use instead?

    Your hands and a flat blade screwdriver ;).

    When we did @SFO s Prolong harness install, we used these and they worked well:).

    Just be careful and don’t just yank;).

    Alternatively you can also get replacement clips off of Amazon if you break any(y).

    Thanks! With any luck, I won't end up with any broken ones.

    I've got the new battery on the charger now. I'm all set for tomorrow, as long as the weather holds.

    What’s the voltage and date on the battery:whistle:?

    Once you have that, make sure all your ducks are in a row as your hv battery pitch count is adding up;).

    There are no panels to remove when installing a 12v battery, why would you need a tool?

    Because I still have the water issue to investigate. I believe I have located all the cracks that need to be sealed to prevent future damage, but I still need to assess how much/what kind (if any) of damage as been done. So I need to tear apart the back and take a good look, and I'll clean the HV fan while I'm in there.

    Oh, lol. Well you still don't need special tools to remove the right panel. All clips and maybe a phillips/10mm bolt. Lots of videos on YouTube for reference.

    Removing the panel will give you more room in removing the battery
