"The Volkswagen Group MEB platform (German: Modularer Elektrobaukasten) is a modular car platform for electric cars developed by the Volkswagen Group and its subsidiaries.[1] It is used in models of Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen. The architecture is aimed to "consolidate electronic controls and reduce the number of microprocessors, advance the application of new driver-assistance technology and somewhat alter the way cars are built"[2] by the VW Group."

Lots of detail at Jalopnik, but they still produce hyperlink hell here.

The short of it is a rear motor RWD with AWD option with a skateboard battery much like Tesla. The main difference for the masses is that the space that was where the engine would be isn't going to a frunk.

The Volkswagon I.D. will be the first production model out on the platform, and may be available in 2019.

I believe Jalopnik links will behave, as long as you don't just cut-and-paste the web page address (typically all I ever do), but instead use the link function within Priuschat editor:

    upload_2019-1-8_10-41-23.png

    Steps:

    1. Copy URL from target page
    2. Type message in Priuschat editor, with a word you want to act as link
    3. Highlight the word, then click the link icon, paste in the copied URL (from step 1)

    Example:
