Yeah, when I started a mini farm on our lot, our garage was converted to a barn. It houses many junks mostly livestock and garden stuff, and it hardly has space for a car to move in.

Yeah, more and more I think about it, remote engine starter on PRIME is not going to work. At least not worth the effort and cost. BTW, our dog died recently, so no dog to walk, but even if we had a dog, I am not taking a dog to a walk in sub-zero temp pitch black dark at 5 am.

Just being Dutch uncle: get a garden shed or two, clear out the garage for the car?

Well, at this point converting the barn back to a garage is more work than building another garage, but where is the big question. I would need to extend our driveway. BTW, we do have not one, not two but three 10x10 garden sheds already, though two are currently being used as housing for 30 chickens and 12 ducks.

Yeah the killer is a car that sits outside overnight, turned into a frosty/cold lump in the morning.

Unless I have attached and heated garage, the car in a detached unheated garage is still going to be as cold as the outside temp. It will help to avoid snow or other precipitation accumulating on the windshield, but not sure if it prevents frosting. I had no room in our freezer, and I left slubs of bacon inside of this garage/barn. They were deep frozen overnight.

my unheated garage is partially heated. maybe a combination of slow nighttime air infiltration, and leakage through the two house walls. never goes below freezing, but we rarely get sub zero temps

unlikely. right now, nothing grabs me. i really want a 30k 100+ mile range bev with a prius sized hatch.

but at 70% ev on pippy, she worries unnecessarily.

You can get a bolt out here for around $31k;).

I guess the hatch size isn’t the same, but it’s close and 250+ mile range (y).

We have an attached/unheated garage, and I've never seen any kind of frost/dew on the car. Granted our winters are pretty mild, though once in a blue moon we'll get down to maybe -10C (around 14F)

When we lived out in Wichita Kansas it would get into the negative F territory and never had to scrape the windshield since our cars resides in the attached unheated garage.

Outside storage is a different animal.

Yeah, our garage/barn is totally detached from our house, 30 feet away to be specific. It is by definition "outside storage" where the temp is always as cold as the outside temp. That said, being inside of a structure should prevent direct contact with outside air and precipitation. That may prevent severe frost I often have to deal with when my cars are parked outside on my driveway.

Can you explain what you mean by having he remote start "pulse the toggle"? I purchased the 18 prime and negotiated remote start installed because I live in Boston and have spent far too many hours waiting on windows to defrost. But I've learned that the car always starts in EV mode (if sufficient battery) and with none of my previous cooling/heating settings "saved" (most notably the defrost settings).

Do you think the dealer can "reprogram" the car and/or remote starter such that I can keep my settings from the last time I turned off the car? (Ideally, they could turn off autoplaying music from my phone--it even starts after I get off the phone with someone).

not if they are settings that are programed to come on in a certain factory default.
