    Hey y'all. I have a 2006 Prius with 148,000 miles.

It threw the P0A80, and I had a company put in a rebuilt hybrid pack. It worked ok for about 8 days, and then threw a P0A80. The rebuilt pack has a 5-year warranty, so I called, texted, emailed, etc., but now the company and the mechanic are ghosting me. I'm filing complaints with the appropriate authorities.

Now a few days later, I turn on the car, and it's not throwing the code anymore! And seems to be driving normally, though it's hard to tell.

Is it possible that my car is actually fine? Could there be another reason besides hybrid pack failure for the P0A80? What would make it only throw the code intermittently?

Also, after the rebuilt pack was installed my panic alarms kept randomly going off, don't know if that's a clue.

    Thanks for any help!

If you paid by credit card, dispute it now. You have a bad replacement battery. What company did you use?

Thanks. Yeah I already contacted them and am waiting to see if I get it refunded.

It was Hybrid Technology Services - out of Pensacola, FL. I think it's just a few people in the company - maybe even just one or two. The other name I found they use is National Prius Battery. Still haven't heard back from him/them. He replaced it for $900 bucks. Which seemed almost too good to be true. I guess it was.

I probably should do another post on here warning people.

A rebuilt pack is just somebody else's failed pack they tried to repair with used modules from other failed packs. You will likely need it replaced many tines over the 5 year warranty.
Assuming you get out of your deal, the 2 best options currently are either a new Toyota battery or, if you are the DIY type, the kit of new cells from @2k1Toaster here for $1600 delivered. The link is in my signature..

A new Toyota battery, if you install, has a 1 year warranty. If you pay the dealer to install, the warranty is 3 years. I believe the kit warranty is 2 years but he has not had a failure yet..

They have more than one name AND you can’t get ahold of them for a warranty repair?

Yeah. Only found one LLC. Didn't find out about the second company until after the install. I looked up the business filings for Hybrid Technology Services, and they look legit. But I guess he just really knows how to work people. His name is Robert Kirk, and he's listed as the manager in the business filings. Registered agent is listed as Tracy A Adcock.

    Other names I found associated:
    National Prius Battery
    Affordable Hybrid Batteries

Hoping that credit card refund comes through.

Perhaps they keep changing name to avoid warranty claims?

I like how they offer a 5 year warranty and can't be reached. They should have offered a lifetime warranty......

Lifetime defined as until the pack fails...

I think buyers of these batteries should make sure these "mobile" installers have a physical business location. Otherwise you'll run into a lot of these issues. It's a good thing the OP paid with a credit card to dispute, but the bad news is they have his credit card number

Or until the business fails, whichever occurs first.

    jclark,
Did you ever get a resolution to this from the credit card company or the business that did the work? I am trying to find a good hybrid repair shop around Pensacola, FL, and google searches bring up a company called Pensacola Hybrid Repair that has a website of fixmyhybrid. The website is down but their facebook page is up. However, the latest post on that page is from JAN 2018. There is a post on there about someone trying to reach Robert. Thought that might be more than a coincidence based on your description above. I called the phone number which directed me to leave my info on their website. I e-mailed the address on the Facebook page (perdidokeytech at gmail) and am waiting to hear back. I definitely don't want to get involved with them if it's the same people you dealt with and never resolved your warranty issue. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many places that specialize in hybrid repair around here.

Thanks for any info you can provide,
    Mark

You can assume it didn't work out.

Is this thread not enough to alert you to stay well away from this "business"? This is not an isolated case, so you would be well advised to give them a very wide berth.

Start a new thread outlining your symptoms and troubles and we can give you better advice tailored to your circumstances.
