did anyone else get the email this morning from metro expresslanes stating that tolls on the i10 &i110 will be charged starting March 1 even with the red or purple hov sticker?

Was there any notification BEFORE I traded in my older (paid off) green hov sticker car for a new car to get the new stickers?

Anyone else in the same situation?

I don’t know what notices, if any, might have been sent directly, but the change was hardly a secret: see this story in the Los Angeles Times and Metro’s blog posting from last April, for example. The possibility of tolls has been part of state law since AB 1721 (Linder) was enacted in 2014; both that law and AB 544 (Bloom), enacted in 2017, refer to “toll-free free or reduced-rate passage” (emphasis added) for designated vehicles.

You do realise that green stickers expired on Jan 1, right?

Yup. I just bought a new car in late
December to get the new purple sticker. But my commute is 100% toll lane. So I sold my paid off car for NOTHING. Feel a bit like an idiot. The assembly bill (expiring green/white stickers and introducing new sticker) was so widely publicized. I was told when I got the sticker, got a letter from the dmv in September, it was on the news. The change in toll policy was apparently covered in 1 article in Los Angeles daily mail (at least that I can find). Never heard of it. And then the expresslanes decides to notify us officially 19 days after the assembly bill required is to buy a new cars. Doesn’t feel good. At all.

You can still use carpool lanes that are not Metro Fast track. And you get 15% discount for metro lanes. So you still have benefits
