My 2005 daily driver is reaching the 15 year mark. I bought it for $3000 with a 4 year old Toyota HV battery in it. Only 1 issue came up since my ownership, CD player stopped working. Hard to beat such cheap transportation.

I tend to keep cars longer than most but I let my 2008 go at 10 years.
I don't plan on keeping my new one near that long.
Two years ago I sold a car I owned for 52 years.
I have two cars I have owned for over 20 years.

Gave it to my son when I bought a model S. He kept it for 4 yrs before getting a used Miata. He sold it to AutoNation. I think they did their own check up on it. Have no idea what they asked him, but being a corporate buyer of used cars, I don't think they rely upon anything the sellers tell them.

Please define “geezer”: I am unsure if it is a purely age-defined category (if so, what ages?), or a behavior-based category (“Get off my lawn, you young whippersnappers!”).
I may qualify on one or both bases depending on your answer.

Or, as my Depression Era parents would say,
    “Use it up,
    Wear it out,
    Make it do,
    Or do without!”

But Franklin was first with Poor Richard’s advice that “A penny saved is a penny earned.”

Given the car has been paid off since 2012, we’re channeling the “use it all up” mentality :).

Growing up in an area where this philosophy ran rampant, it has been engrained into my fibers ;).

My wife is also thrifty, so we are a good match:love:.

    Hybrids suit us well (y).

65 is the new 40 so we get to use that conversion factor

I'm a geezer. My point was I won't be buying cars every 2-3 years like I did when I was much younger. A 75.9 year old can use the term

Our 2005 just passed 341,000 with the original (untouched) hybrid battery, CVT, and engine. We also have a 2008 nearing 200,000 miles (same stats) and bought our son a 2014 Prius V wagon that is nearing 64,000 mi! Great cars!

That fits my conclusion that Toyota hybrids like to be driven.
