New Bosal muffler, 2 yr warranty $93.95 - worth it?

    I've never replaced a Prius exhaust, but I've used Bosal parts on many other cars. Good stuff.

    Update: The last person that put on the muffler didn't use spring bolts but used bolts and nuts. I bought some PB B'Laster and the nuts and bolts came out with a small vise grip on the nut and a small socket with small extension on the bolt. Nuts and bolts seem to be in good shape even though the muffler and its flange were flaking apart.

    QUESTION:
    Now I am wondering how do I get the old metal donut on the remaining exhaust flange off - seems to be caked on and not rusted. Suggestions on how to get it off without damaging the flange or exhaust pipe?

    I'd use Dremel with an abrasive disk cutter, a vibrating tool with a bimetal blasé or a jab hacksaw with an exposed blade to slit the donut in three places. Then, I'd knock off each segment with a hammer and a screwdriver.

    I have attached photos of the rear flange that goes towards the front of the Prius. One has the new gasket and the other without after I had scraped away the old gasket. As you can see, I could only get the gasket to go on to the flange so that half of it is on the pipe and half is not. Since the tapered top part needs to go into the flange from the muffler pipe, is this okay to use the spring bolts and a nut to crush it together, or does it need to go on all the way? Suggestions?
