What made you pick the V over other Pri?

Yeah it meets my expectations...but just barely. Even though I went into it knowing the MPG differences, I am disappointed that I can't 'do better' like I can in the liftback. I think it comes down to physics....nearly the same drivetrain with much more weight. I find it much more difficult to 'glide at 99.9' in the v versus the liftback on my commute route.

But hey..I got it to replace our minivan..so no worries! And the only reason I got it is because I got a great deal on a used one. Not sure I'd buy one new.

 

My son was hoping to match the mpg of hos 2005 Prius when he bought his 2015 Prius v. His actual mpg is lower though.

 

I to have grown more accustomed to the right height of the 2016 honda crv vs my wife's gen 3 prius. I do prefer the easier step in level and better view of the highway and traffic in my vehicle.

 

When did you get a used one?
I have found the nicely trimmed models (4, 5) are pretty pricey with decent mileage. In minneapolis for reference.

 

When I was having repeated troubles with the parking pawl on my v, i started looking at the CRV and Rav4 for the reasons you mention. Reading the difficulties with fuel in the oil and cabin heat many are having with the CRV (and repeated fixes not working), I got scared off of the 1.5L Turbo engine. Then the v got fixed. For a while I got really interested in the Tesla Model 3 but ultimately decided against it. Partially because it didn't have the things you cited. Lets see how healthy the company is when the Model Y comes out.

I've seen and sat in the 2019 RAV4 but want to wait till I can get a better read from the forums on what actual users experiences are with it. I think my wife wants the next car. Now can I persuade her the h version is the one? I don't know as she is used to the V6 plushmobile. Which I hate.

 

what is parking pawl?
I have a 2016 crv. It has the original 2.5L motor 4 cylinder, non turbo. It has not had any issues. It is a lease and comes to end at the summer of 2019. I would have picked out another brand new 19 crv had it not been to the 1.5t motor. I totally agree 1000%, I am not interested in a turbo vehicle. I think Honda made a mistake in judgement and truly should've had an option - outside of the lx base model to get the 2.5L engine and not just the turbo.

 

I like the look of the new honda accord, too. but it is only optioned now in the same 1.5t motor. It has gotten great reviews, minus the oil issues that Consumer Reports has mentioned numerous times.

 

farmecologist, you're still on non LRR tires right? I think if you started with LRR your experience might be different.

My v has exceeded my expectation in overall experience. But I do, do little things to enhance my experience. I have no complaints visually or with power. If I were to ever "lose" my v, I may just either replace it with another v or the Toyota RAV4 hybrid. But usually I prefer to wait a few years for Toyota to work out all the flaws of new designs rather than become an early adopter of AWD hybrids from Toyota.

The Model Y entices me but I'm really not a fan of EV yet because of range and charging time limitations. I think those things will be improved in the coming years, so waiting is still the option for EV. If I buy an EV, I would like battery tech improvements to the point that the life of the EV battery exceeds the life of the car. I believe the only car battery that this is true for is the Honda Fit EV. The life of those batteries should exceed the life of the car. But the range is still limited until Toshiba comes out with their newer gen batteries. Tesla still makes the most appealing cars. And I do like the idea of sleeping comfortably in a Model Y while it's charging on long road trips. But I don't like the idea of a $34k battery replacement.

 

you have a 2017 model V. My guess is you have many, many more years of service. How many miles are on it?

 

25k miles. I would love to keep this car for a long time and I'm glad that no recalls were issued.

Model: Four

Bought new. If going for the Five, the ride may be more bumpier because of the larger rims.

 

do you need to go to five to get heated front seats or do you have that with soft tex leather in the four?

 

The four has them. Personally I like the Clazzio covers better.

 

The parking prawl is a mechanical part that engages when you put a Prius vehicle in park. Think pushing a pin into a hole to lock things. Only shaped differently. If it gets stuck in the Park mode you get a pLock error message and get towed. Very rare. I had the only one I ever found on the web.

The CRV 1.5L Turbo and Civic with the same engine are famous on Honda forums with thousands citing oil levels rising, gas smells and oil analysis that show major gas in the crankcase. There is nothing wrong with a turbo done right.

I’ve had trouble finding model four and fives with under 25,000-30,000 miles here in Minnesota in a 2017 model. I look fairly often as a replacement for my crv

 

You don't have to get to a 4 or 5 to get leather seats. My 3 has them and with a part number from Toyota and they were installed before delivery. 53k miles and 6+ years and flawless. katzkin KZ-DKS P#T12FA Frost T#2954843

 

Right but you need a model four or above for the heated seat option?
