Hey guys, I’ve seen the power driver’s seat with the chrome accent around each of the switches on the seat. Mine doesn’t have it. Im wondering if it’s a Canadian model thing or for some reason, my car is missing it.

Are you talking about those? Mine is 2017 US Premium trim with power seat. Don't know what Advanced trim looks like. There also could be the difference in 2018 model?

Yeah that’s what I’m talking about. I don’t have that trim pieces around the switches.

I don't think you are missing much. I didn't even notice them until you mentioned it.

Oh I know it's super minor. It is just a trim but just wondering if it's a manufacturer defect (i.e. it's missing it) or whether Toyota made a change halfway through production and swapped out the switches.

I dropped by the dealership today. Both the test drive vehicle and the service vehicle have the chrome surround too.

However, the parts department said that there is a change in the parts number when they looked it up so it’s possible Toyota made a change halfway through 2018 (test drive vehicle was built before mine). I will check the 2019s when they arrive.

    Kinda curious as to why.

Why ? , i would guess for manufacturing cost savings. Even tiny bits like this can yield big $$ when you manufacture thousands of cars , especially if the parts in question are used in several model.

I remember back in 2002 , i bought a brand new car ( first model year) and two years later my friend bought the exact same car and we found many differences. One of them was that i had small plastic caps to hide every heads screw for the inside panels trim ( doors , console .. etc ) while in my friend's car every screw was visible. Cheap parts but i guess the saving was the time taken by the employees to install them.

BTW , Gratz on your new car , Tideland.

That makes sense. The Prius has a lot of clips instead of screws to save on weight and cost.

    Thanks!
