I want to install a rear back up camera in my 2016 Prius C Two that connects to the radio screen in my dashboard.

I just traded in my FRS for this car which has the same Toyota interface and screen.

I've seen posts of people asking here but their cars seem to be older (oldest I can find is 2014?).

Was wondering if it was possible to install:

    Without having an external screen?

certainly possible but may require a newer head unit. I can't tell you if the one in your car has the capability unused for lack of a camera, or if you'd have to change the whole thing.

I can tell you that changing it out for an aftermarket head unit is easy and potentially inexpensive, and lots of them allow for rear vision cameras now.

I installed that exact PYvideo unit in my '15 c2 and it works as advertised with the stock stereo. Picture quality isn't great; esp in bright light or at night but hey, at least I now have a backup cam.

IIRC, post 2014, it was law that all cars had to have the backup camera. On 2012/2013, C3/4, you could add the camera to the factory head unit. But the C1/2 did not have a screen.

    Edit: US law.

Maybe there was an exemption to give manufacturers time to implement? I'm driving a 2016 C Two - no backup camera on mine, but it does have a screen. At the time I purchased it, I was "almost" going to buy that Toyota license place holder camera thingy for $100. But I honestly forgot all about it. Got to talking with my friends there and when I finally did remember, they no longer offered it. Guys in the back said it was pretty much plug it in and your good.

Yeah, as long as you have the screen the connections are all there. *note, factory screen*

I bought this backup camera and the auto shop had no issue installing it on my 2016 Prius C two and connecting it to the existing. screen.
