Most Obscure Prime Facts (Way Out There)

    The radar for the cruise control is behind the front logo.
    The parallelogram covers likely cover places to screw in tiedowns for shipping the car by boat. The Prius used to come with one eye bolt that could be used to secure loads.
    There are photos in a thread somewhere showing how the seats fold down.

    My ECO Score stopped showing on the MID when I turned the car off. I don't really need an ECO Score, but this bothered me for a couple weeks because of the change of behavior. I discovered I had left the automatic intermittent wipers on. The ECO Score returned after that was turned off.

    Also, I was bothered that the Menu bubbles were taking over the bottom of my screen after I hit the Home button. That was always an unwanted intrusion. I had been swiping them off until I found out what the little up and down arrow did at the top left of the screen (page 16 in the Nav. manual). That switches the menu bubbles permanently off. The Menu button displays them again.

    Noticed two new ones.
    • The front passenger seat is mounted higher than the front passenger seat in a Gen 4 Touring trim level.
    • The dashboard trim around the piano black pieces and the 11.6” screen has a stainless steel effect (Toyota calls it satin chrome) vs. silver painted on the Gen 4.

    Those bumper knock outs on the front and rear are recovery anchor points for tow trucks.

    I think they are also used to secure the car on its boat ride to the US.

    I don't think so. The hold down holes are under the car near the rear doors and the car comes with 2 black plastic plugs to fill them upon delivery.

    The Prime’s fob has a satin chrome accent to match the car’s interior accent. The regular Prius’ fob has a piano black accent.

    The taillight light and other green lights on the passenger side of the instrument panel is a yellow-green on our 2016 Prius. The Prime is a solid green.

    Also, B mode in HV mode in the Prime acts like previous Prius models while the Gen 4 always kicks in the engine when you shift into B even at low speeds.

    Here's a weird one, and it my just be a build quality issue on my Prime Premium:
    The intermittent wiper speed control is reversed. I only have my 1992 Pickup and 2003 4Runner to reference, but they both have adjustable speed intermittent wipers. All 3 vehicles have the same design on the rotating switch, with the wide triangle on the top, gradually narrowing to the thin rectangle on bottom. Both my truck and runner operate the slowest speed on top, going to the fastest at the bottom. The Prime is opposite, with the slowest on the bottom, at the thin rectangle, and the fastest at the top, with the wide triangle.

    The wipers still function normally, I just have to remember which vehicle I'm in...

    Another obscure fact - the radar locked vehicle on the MID is different than the one shown in the HUD. The MID looks like a Gen 2 Avalon, the HUD looks like a Gen 8.5 Camry

    Somewhere between 2007 and 2013. My PiP is the opposite of my wife's '07. It's not a big deal, but what's the point of making useless changes like that? Can't the engineers find anything more important to do?

    I noticed Toyota is standardizing things so it could be the supplier. For example, Toyota is no longer using the CC stalk. It’s using steering wheel mounted buttons like the rear of the industry. I prefer the stalk myself but I guess enough people complained that they’re moving to button-based.

    I like the stalk, too. It's about one inch from my fingers as I drive. Buttons on the wheel require to to hunt them down.

    agree. The one that irks me is moving the shift lever forward for reverse and backwards to move forward.

    Or turning the door key toward the back to unlock the door so you can swing the door forward, get in facing forward, and drive forward.
