Add OEM Camera to 2010

I owned a 2010 Prius Two for two years, and totaled it in November. On that Prius, I had an aftermarket stereo and license plate mounted backup cam installed.

Today, I purchased a 2010 Prius Three. I had planned to have my aftermarket system reinstalled in the new one. But before I purchased the car, I test drove a Prius Four with an OEM backup cam. The OEM cam looks way better than the aftermarket I have, and I'd rather have the OEM camera.

I know it's possible to connect an OEM camera to my aftermarket stereo (Pioneer 1330NEX), as I found a tutorial. Used OEM cameras can also be had for under $100 on eBay.

My questions are: How does the installer go about mounting it to a Prius that didn't originally come with it. Are there schematics available? And is there a wiring harness available for it?

    Thank you,
    -Cali

Hey Cali, if you purchase one, it should come with all the wiring needed. If you are having someone install it, they will know how to wire it and where to put it. However, as for the where, there should be a small plastic piece near the licence plate lights, if you are looking at the car, it will be on the drivers side, it pops out from the inside I believe. You will have to cut a hole into it to mount the camera. The last time I ordered one, it eve came with the bit you need to make the hole.

Hope this helps a bit. All in all, its not a tough install. Just pulling the panels along the door to run the wire is the pain.. because you have to put them all back lol
