P0AA6, car won't start unless jumped, other codes

    Techstream screenshot attached. Picked the car up, 115k miles. Drove fine, but the red triangle comes on followed by the "problem" notification on the LCD. Car won't start again unless I jump it. I don't know how to find the detail like people are saying for the P0AA6 code on techstream. If anyone has any info on the rest of the process I would appreciate your input. I have a spare hybrid battery ready to go if need be. Thanks.

    Detail or INF would be that little bluish cloud or flower in the middle column of techstream.

    The 526 subcode is pretty generic. "Insulation resistance of HV circuit and body is low". The car knows there is a problem, but not able to give a specific location.

    • Frame wire
    • system main relay
    • system main resistor
    • HV battery assembly
    • Motor compressor assembly
    • Battery ECU
    • HV transaxle assembly
    • Converter Inverter assembly
    • Main battery cable
    • Main battery cable #2
    • Battery Plug
    • Frame wire #2
    • Junction Block assembly
    A 611 subcode would point to AC compressor motor or A/C inverter
    A 612 would point to HV battery, HV battery ecu, main relay or resistor
    A 613 would point to transaxle.

    If I had a spare HV battery laying around, I'd take the chance and just swap it in. I think your code is caused a lot more by batteries have leakage issues than inverters/transaxles going bad. No guarantee, but likely.

    Replaced 12v with a brand new one since I checked the voltage and it was under 12 volts. Haven’t changed the big battery yet. But the car started draining this new battery now. Why would it do that? I listed the codes above. Could it be a bad inverter?

    Ok so. I picked the car up from its spot and I’m getting it back up to The central coast (California) from San Diego. Car’s P code doesn’t come on if I’m driving on the freeway. I’ve realized now that jumping the car once the triangle comes on starts it up and so does clearing the code and starting it. The 12v of oof was definitely contributing to the issue but the car is still getting this code. We are getting a day of dry weather tomorrow so I’ll be putting the good HV battery in and getting down to business. If I’m lucky there’s gonna be a leak in one of those cells! Hopefully the inverter or trans isn’t bad in this thing.

    Until you fix the cause of the P0AA6, and to give this a clearer focus, you need to retrieve the second INF code (the 526 and either 611, 612, 613 or 614) which you can only get before you disconnect the 12 V battery, you will be continually be disconnecting the 12 V to drive the car.

    If you keep pulling the 12 V so you can start the car and continuing to drive it you could eventually have something bad happen.

    I haven’t been disconnecting the 12v, I’ve just been clearing the code. I’m swapping the HV battery as we speak. I never got a 611-614. I click the snowflake and it only shows me the 526

    Looks like some leaky electrolyte. Taste tested. Swapping the good battery in now.
