I was interested in BSM when I got my Prius too, but it was not available. They added it at no charge mid-year though.:mad::mad:

When we bought our 2010 right off the dealer lot (and the 2017 RX450h most recently) we thought the same thing. Nothing beats that feel and appearance ;).

I’ve gotten the Prime itch over the last year or so myself, but I’ve resisted thinking that our 2010 will last a bit longer and when the next gen Prime is here, it might lure us in:).

I’ll keep saving my pennies until then(y).

What looks great about this car, is that when I look in my rearview mirror, I no longer see $100 bills flying out the back LOL!

Very wise!! If I was really smart, maybe I'd have waited a few years. But after that last trip to NC on those horrible GA interstates I almost went deaf. I'm tempted to drive this thing up there just to compare sound levels while the memory is still fresh in my mind. :D

Our trips to So Cal occur annually and there is a bit of road noise. But when we had the 4runner, my wife looked forward to riding in the Prius ;).

Now with the RX450h it’s a different story, but that only gets around 30 mpg, so the cost saving argument is the last leg I have to stand on, but may give into the RX450h this round as the cooled seats are great:).

If you have hearing aids, you could just turn them down:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.

Or install some sound deadening material(y).

The 2019 Prius has ventilated seats in Japan. Only a matter of time before it makes its way over.

    That’s a great feature;).

    More fodder for waiting then:).

The wife will be happy to hear that(y).

    Congrats Jerry

How do you know which ones are free? I THOUGHT the one at a store was free but it wanted either a credit card or a smartphone with ChargePoint. I have NO idea what charging stations charge, it isn't like they have the price posted near as I can tell.

I did find some using the PlugShare link @Pdog808 posted. A lot are in places where you wouldn't likely spend 2 hours hanging around. One that was is at the waterfowl park in Sackville, NB (daughter is going to Mount Allison University). Not at all hard to spend a fair bit of time walking through that. I'd feel a little weird sitting in my Prime reading a book at a car dealership while charging, especially one that wasn't Toyota ;) and a lot are at dealerships.

Because they are shopping at Walmart?? Lots of "don't care what my car looks like" older vehicles there. Maybe the person figured they needed to save their paint.

Or you can be pushed into it like I was. All you need is for someone to run into your car and total it. Same reason I bought the '09 in 2012.

I have a ChargePoint account—most of the ones I use are free—although I have to use my account card (small one on my keychain) to unlock the station, most are free.

No dispute but if it by my own choice, I’ll be waiting;).

But if that situation presented itself, I could by a Prime or I could follow @m.wynn ’s advice and take a trip back in time:).

He’s trying to get me to bite on one of the older Camry’s that are in excellent condition out here, like this one:

1993 Toyota Camry LE Sedan 68k Original Miles SUPER CLEAN - cars & trucks - by dealer - vehicle automotive sale

I’d dicker on the price a bit, but they are bullet proof(y).

Congratulations on your new vehicle. We are considering switching from a 2008 Prius to a Prius Prime. I am hopping you will do a review on your vehicle and its electric range. It would be really exciting to have a vehicle where you can choose to run on just electric. If you have time can you let us know how the driving comfort compares between your new Prime and your regular Prius? I am feeling just a little Prius Prime envy.

I am approaching the one year mark, and my electric range depends on heater use. In the winter using the heat, I get 23 miles on a charge. In the summer, I get about 31 miles to a charge. I could get more, but I charge at work and drive 11 miles one way--some stop and go, some 55 mph, so I don't "take it really easy." If I did, I could probably get 33-35 miles....

That was my plan as well! There was nothing wrong with my '09 Prius, only 140K miles on it. Was planning to wait a few more years and see what evolves in the BEV world. Wife's '06 has 208K miles on it. She wants to watch it roll 250K. And there is no reason it shouldn't ... if she doesn't get totalled. Her's nearly was 2 years ago when she was rear ended. Repair was just shy of total. Same thing with her '96 Subaru Legacy in 2000, same with my older daughter's '10 Prius last summer. I don't know why people have to hit us, why can't they run into a tree or something.

I see that @ClemsonSteve has already given you some food for thought. Today will be my first time driving beyond what I expect to be the battery range. My guess is that if you are in the hilly part of KY, that will make a difference compared to the flatness here. And your winters will have more impact, too. I will tell you that the improvement in ride, comfort, and noise level from my PiP to the Prime is probably a bigger improvement than that from my 2005 to the PiP. But so far, I've only drive it 105 miles. Today, the real world begins.

Edited to add. I know what you mean about the Prius Prime envy. I had that for quite a while about the PiP before I got mine. This car is really what the PiP should have been.

Yes, I did think about that. I've heard lots of good stories about it and we have friends in NJ that we could have visited in the process. Plus, I've never bought a new car before, so that was appealing

But I just have a ton of stuff going on and it would be really hard to get away right now. And, the tax credit is nice, but I'd still have to finance it. I'll be paying this off pretty fast once Social Security kicks in in a few months, but still wanted a payment that wouldn't be a burden until then.

I get similar EV range here in Washington: about 24 in the winter and 30 in the summer. I wonder how much the winter decrease is caused by the battery being less efficient in 30 to 40 degree temperatures compared to 60 to 70 in the summer? I suspect that may have more to do with it. Incidentally, I have never used the seat heaters.

Yep. No indication of problems with the batteries in either. Well except the 12V batteries, both have replacement Yellow Top from eLearnAid.

All righty! First trip beyond EV range today.

It was a bit over 20 miles each way. Mid 70's when we left. 80 when we got home. Air conditioning on all the way in both directions. Wife and mother-in-law along with me. Speeds mostly around 50 mph with lots of stops including two hard stops where the light changed at the last second.

We stayed in EV all the way to our destination. Then in EV to where we had lunch. Normally in the PiP I would have manually switched to HV a mile or two before running out of EV range and save that for parking lots, but today I just ran it out after lunch. Engine came on at 29.5 miles.

I did the last 19.3 miles home in HV. I was pleased at how reluctant it was to restart the ICE once it warmed up. It was often running in EV at over 50 mph even though the range was depleted. But you do pay a bit of a price when it does restart the ICE to put back the energy it was borrowing. I averaged 139 mpg over those last 19.3 miles. If my math is right, that's over 200 mpg round trip for 42 miles. That's supported by the fact that the trip meter I reset before the trip was still pegged at 199.9 mpg. The PiP would have given me about 70 mpg over that distance.

I hope to give a fuller assessment next week after I get some more experience with it. But I'm sure it won't surprise anyone who's already read other reviews here on PC or already have a Prime of their own.
