I’ve read where most of it comes from the “heat pump” that works well, but penalizes you quite a bit while in use.

    Hey Jerry,

Sorry I’m late to reply, as I have been traveling the last couple days. Congrats on the new purchase, very exciting, she sure is a beauty. Like you, I also have the Blue Magnetism at the top of my preferred list, but the red is a strong #2.

I am actually in Central Florida on vacation this week with family (Orlando area... thus the travelling ), though I am not in the PiP this time but a rented white 2019 Sienna since there are 6 of us. I must say, I have been spoiled with CarPlay (with a LONG test drive, lol), and Toyota really needs to figure this out and get it into the ‘20 Prius... like the rest of the Toyota lineup.

Maybe then I will have enough of an excuse to upgrade to the Prime.

I’ll keep an eye out for that nice red Prime, but if you see a white Sienna with Ontario plates (license plate has ‘222’ as the number, so easy to distinguish from all the other Ontario plates around here this week), be sure to wave. Lol.

    Cheers!

Thanks, Kevin. Hope you enjoy your time down here. I'm an odd duck. To me the Car Play is not anything I'm interested in. I don't listen to music a whole lot. I enjoy it, but it's not something I long for. And, with the iPhone connected to the car anyway, I can play what few tunes I have on it any time I want. If I need to make a phone call, the phone is connected and I can use Siri through the car to make the call. It meets all my needs. But Car Play would give it a sort of industry standard interface and that would be nice.

I most likely won't be seeing your rental unless you head over this way. I still work for a living and I've been to Orlando before. I only go there if someone very dear to me is visiting there and that's the only way I can see them. If you can imagine the Indy 500 with all the drivers having blood alcohol levels about quadruple the legal limit, that's Interstate 4. On a good day. :D Do be careful over there but have fun! (y)

For sure, to each their own about CarPlay. For me, it is important, mainly as I use Waze religiously, and would be nice to have the seamless integration for voice to text, which is I know is currently available with Siri Eyes Free, just a step better. IHeartRadio and Spotify (and audio apps) are a nice bonus.

I was only kidding really about seeing me, I know the odds are very slim. And I know what you mean about I4... Good times.

    Cheers!

No, she Plans to get to 250K, only 208K at the moment ;)

    @jerrymildred
When the car tells you to maintain speed for better ECO driving, does that mean you are supposed to run the lights rather than stopping short? :ROFLMAO:

Must be lots of people in Tampa getting that message about maintaining speed, even in other cars! ... ;)

I finally looked at some of the Eco Diary data and it looks like the original owner must have plugged in some of the time but there were a few months with average mpg in the 40s. Not sure what his/her pattern was. I should take pictures of that, now that I think of it, so it doesn't scroll off the records as the months pile up.

months in the 40s MPG for us in our Gen IIs is called "winter" with snow tires". Haven't had the prime near long enough to know what it is for the new car.

I took pictures of the reports on the car and put them into a new area of my spreadsheet. But I missed one screen so I'll have to go grab that later. But as you can see, the previous owner was pretty consistently falling short of EPA estimates, to say the least. And not just in the New Jersey winters. The data for March, 2019 is, of course incomplete. It's mostly my miles. I'm at 95% EV so far on this tank so this does seem to be the sweet spot for range for me. I'll have another drive tonight that's roughly 9-10 miles beyond battery range. With a full charge & the A/C on this morning, it was showing a range of over 32 miles.

Jerry, you should be able to destroy those MPG numbers. It looks as if the previous owner never really charged the Prime up. My Prius 2 Gen 4 has 26K on the odometer. My average MPG is 54.0 No plugin Prime. Those numbers are awful on your chart for a Prime before you got it. Even if I were driving without a care in the world. 47MPG would be about as bad as a standard Gen 4 could get.

Have fun with your new Prime.

The car came from New Jersey. But still ........

So far, I've been getting over 5 miles/kwh. If fact, yesterday was 6.1. I never got close to that in the PiP. 4.4 might have been the best. This morning with a full charge, the guess-o-meter predicted 32.2 miles with the air conditioner on. However, this morning I had to accelerate pretty hard a couple times, so that might take a bite out of today's final average. Nevertheless, the trip meter and the guess-o-meter still added up to 32 miles when I arrived at the office. (y) I should be driving about 60 miles today. About 50 of that should be EV.

When I got the car, the EVSE was still in the bubble wrap.
