‘16 P3 Touring replace stereo

    I just bought a 2016 P3 touring. I almost bought a P2 but I found a great deal on this P3 touring and jumped on it.

    That said, apparently (according to Crutchfield) you can replace the factory Head unit of the P2 but not the P3 touring.

    Had anybody upgraded the P3/4 touring head unit to something that supports catolay and android auto?

    Also, I’m going to be installing some sound dampening panels soon. And I’m disappointed I didn’t catch the distinction between P2 and trims with the JBL and nav system. Goal was a car play /android auto head unit with sound dampening.

    Oh well?

    The 2016 Prius Three Touring—at least if it’s like mine, as described in Toyota’s sales brochure (PDF)—doesn’t have the JBL audio system with the separate amplifier. On Crutchfield.com, when I select 2016 > Toyota > Prius > without JBL audio system; with Navigation system, the site shows many radio head units, navigation systems, etc., including several with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto features.

    Ah, then mis understood. The JBL must be in the P4. I assumed these were because it sounded so good to me. Great little car!

    Off to get a better head unit I go!
