30K mile maintenance

    It backs you up by proving you purchased the items. You didn't return them. You don't have them.
    So you installed them. PROVE that the dealership changed your oil and filter.
    You have the receipt for the parts and labor, but no "proof" the did it.

    I went through this with my 78 Corolla. I can't even remember what it was about but they said they had
    no proof any of the service was done. So I brought my receipts for the oil and filter. So they fixed it.
    I just realized that was 40 years ago!

    More than 40 years ago, a cousin was getting new oil filters cheap from a mechanic friend who was getting new filters from the repair shop store but not installing them.

    i have never heard of anyone being questioned about maintenance when in for warranty work.
    if anything, the argument is always about whether the part is covered or not.

    People who buys extended warranty coverage and got denied coverage. It shows in writing if a manufacturer defect is because lack of manufacturer maintenance/interval, money comes out of your pocket for repairs. Extended insurance repairs may ask you for proof of records.

    that would be interesting if in the fine print, it says all maintenance must be performed and details proof required.

    And that is why I do my own work! I worked in places that did that. I moved on.
    Some wanted me to say I did work I didn't do, I refused. The Mercedes dealership I worked at the service
    manager wanted me to fill out a work order saying I replaced a part on the car I was working on, but not install the part.
    He was mad when I wouldn't do it. He said it was warranty and Mercedes has money to pay for it. But it is stealing!
    He found other people to do it. He fired me. I moved on. about 6 months later Mercedes came in and found warranteed parts
    that did not match date codes on the parts for the car they said it came off of. The owner had to fire the service manage and
    parts manager to keep Mercedes. Within a few years they were out of business.
    IF you have to go to the dealership, do you best to get to a place to be able to watch them do the work.
    Not all dealerships are bad. But I would believe all of them have some bad employee's!

    I shopped for 6 months for a Prius and red every pamplet that dealership gave to me about their extended warranty. Fine print were tiny.
