Could get a high quality paint job for that. I'd choose the paint job.

Since these numbers are currently joke numbers to show that prices vary wildly by location, type, and installer skill level, the OP may not fully appreciate bisco et al.

I've seen wrap jobs as low as $500 for a basic low quality wrap applied generally in a less than nice way. I have also paid $12k to wrap a small car hatchback with a solid colour chrome (shiny!) wrap so that it was in the door jambs, the side mirrors, the bumpers, engine cover, etc. This stuff is a PITA to work with and even a little problem in application looks terrible because the chrome is like a mirror. And when the mirror has a blemish, that's all you can notice.

$12k now that would have paid for one show car paint job!

A high end chrome wrap can't be replicated in paint. You need multiple layers of metallics and metals for the reflections.

A standard paint job on my Leaf is about $8k. Because they do it right. And drop the battery. Stupid Leaf has been hit 3 times.

$2750 isn't too far off. I've gotten quotes to wrap two cars (one being our Tesla) and the costs have run from $2-5k. Materials alone (I think I was quoting for Oracal at the time) were over $900.

An alternative would be to plasti-dip the car: DipYourCar - World Famous Peelable Auto Paint

If you care about your paint, ask for them to use knifeless tape.

I've seen quotes for show cars in the $20k range, though those are typically larger cars like Challengers. For a full respray, $7-9k doesn't sound too far off.

I don't think it's the Leaf that's stupid if it's the one getting run into.

I'll just go with: people are mesmerised by its splendor and unwittingly run into its backside and broadside, too awestruck to notice. Parking lots are magical places of human / vehicle interaction

I had the clear bra put on my car when new half way back the hood, front bumper, half the front fenders and mirrors and it was $750. A nick in a black car show the gray primer underneath.

Why not buy some wrap and do it yourself? Let us know how that turns out.

I actually have a roll of wrap. Sitting in a corner with other projects of good intentions and no time. I tried it before at a tradeshow and it was way more difficult than they make it look. On the big side panels, easy peasy. On anything with indents or curves, wowza. This place was fully wrapping a Lambo in about an hour with 4 or 5 guys just to leave it on for an hour. Then rip it off and do it again in a different colour. Pretty amazing.

You should mail that wrap to SKI.DIVE. Then he can try it and let us know how it goes. :D

I feel like the Aventador, Huracan, and Gallardo are relatively easy to wrap given their angular-flat design.

Here's a bonus GIF of a cool wrap.
