Interior color was what finally made up my mind to not chose a Volt. All they have is a black or an ugly brown. I live in a hot climate and there's no way in heck I'm going to own a black or other dark color interior. I don't like burning my butt or hands! Moonstone has black parts, but it's mostly a very light color and it reflects heat fairly well.

  5. Sunlight scattering off white paneling can appear blindingly bright and shock your vision. I haven't had that problem with black/dark gray interior.

hides dirt, easy for 17 different parts suppliers to match, fairly popular among the buying public anyway.

I prefer the perceptual "roominess" that a light colored interior gives, and I've spent the extra hours cleaning them to prove it.

    There's gains in some areas
    There's losses in other areas.

    Trade offs

I can't stand reflections on the windshield. Light color interiors, or black ones that are glossy, make too much reflection. No thanks. Flat black only for me. The car has windows that open and close, and an air conditioner for really hot days.

And no, polarized sunglasses aren't the answer. They do cut out the reflections, but you can't read any LCD screens.

I like our dark-grey, matte, textured interior. Easy to clean, hard to mar, no reflections.

I hope they go back to that, next gen. I can wait...

I like those matte charcoal gen 3 interiors, too. They can be a little hot, which is a bummer, but they don't reflect, show dirt (much) or get fingerprints. That shiny black area around the glovebox in my Prime was absolutely blinding sometimes till I covered it with matte black vinyl. Even that can have a bit of glare sometimes. At least the moonstone isn't all black. I just hope I can keep it clean!

I miss the dark gray leather interior of my 2009 Prius Touring! It wasn't very dark (although that's what Toyota called it), hid a multitude of sin, wasn't as hot as a black interior in summer, and cleaned up beautifully.

I love black interior for my PRIME, though I hate the material (Softex). In our area sunshine and heat are at premium, anything to warm up the cabin temperature I will take it.

We were somewhat meh to the Moonstone interior in our Prime, but now love it... heck, it even helps with the "whale tail" rear deck fin to carry over the "Orca theme" to the inside. Except for boats and convertibles, dark seats (ouch, ouch, ouuuuch!), are fine by me.

No freakin' clue. I'm not a fan of black interiors - they only look good in the showroom. I wanted Moonstone but the offer on the black interior was too good to pass up.

As boring as the old "dark grey" interior of the Gen 3 was, it didn't show as much dust as the black I have now and it wasn't as hot. I'll see how hot it gets in the summer with the Prime (the windows on the Prime are darker tinted from the factory than on the Gen 3 but I don't have the solar roof option that I had on my Gen 3 to vent out the hot air)

I’m just glad I don’t have to deal with their other temperature extreme .

some of us have to go south, where i would NEVER want a black interior, or exterior.
