    Hello everyone!

While driving on back roads out on Cape Cod, I backed into a low stone wall. I guess they are common in New England but we don't really have these where I am originally from. In any case, I crunched the rear bumper cover on my 2011 Prius and broke the retainer clips on both sides.

My understanding is that despite having comprehensive and collision coverage on the vehicle, it doesn't take much for an insurance company to "total" an eight year old car worth about 4K. For that and other reasons (i.e., an otherwise clean driving record), I would like to attempt the bumper repair myself.

I have read the previous threads on Prius Chat about replacing a bumper cover and watched YouTube videos to see how it is done. I have learned not to buy "generic" covers and to try and find a used OEM bumper in approximately the right color. (I understand that different batches of paint and different levels of fade will cause used body parts not to be an exact match.) However, I have read that the rear bumper cover is the most requested used Prius auto body part and they can be difficult to find. My dad used to go to the local junk yards to find replacement parts for our cars but I'm not confident that I'll find too many Prii there.

Any advice on finding a used bumper cover in ribbon blue online or for pickup in New England that will fit a 3rd gen Prius?

Thanks in advance for your time and any information!

Junkyard. I haven't lived near the cape in a while, but I used to use Anderson's in Kingston.

car-part.com is a database that lets you search multiple independent junkyards for specific parts. Sometimes it works well. Good luck!

There's no way a car would be totalled, due to a cracked rear fairing (aka "bumper"). You paid for insurance; try filing a claim.

True, but I also have a clean driving record.

Unsure that Carfax entries are an issue with a vehicle this age but I don't want my premiums to rise or anything.

This doesn't make sense to me, sorry. Flawed logic. But the insurance companies must love that attitude.
