Anyone that can help. I've searched the forums, but I can't find anything on this issue. I have tried to find wipers to replace my stock blades, but I cannot for the life of me find the proper mounting assembly (see attached photos to understand) anywhere on the market. Some forums point me in the direction of replacing the rubber inserts rather than the entire blade, but I am concerned my blades have lost tension in their old age.

Any input on where to find this specific mounting assembly would be greatly appreciated. I love the ease of removal on these blades, but it has been a nightmare trying to get new blades.

    Thanks all.

If your dealer hasn't got them in stock, ring another dealer - they might charge some freight to get them to you.

My prime takes a 26" and a 16", rain-X fit, they have all the parts in the package, take yours off and tinker or have an auto jobber store install them.

Whatever you do, don't throw away those originals. It's only about $9 each to get the replacement inserts from Toyota and they work and last way way way better than anything else I've found in 40 years of messing with auto parts store replacements. They take a few minutes longer to install, but you only have to do it about every 2-3 years or more compared to every few months with the junk in the parts store.

Yes, I've found that in the past. My KIA RIO and FOCUS were 3 yrs old when I sold them and the original wiper blades were still on and fine. The FIESTA which I kept almost 5 yrs, I replaced the blades after 4 yrs - and the replacements, non-genuine, were almost ready to replace a year later - but I changed the car instead . Samantha's wipers are still fine, 2 3/4yrs old.

Thanks all. Honestly, this search had me feeling fairly inept for a while. Sounds like the dealer has the inserts, and I will be grabbing them shortly. Thanks again.

Hear hear. Ours is build-date August 2009, drove it off the lot (new) in November 2010, still on the original wiper blades. The edges at the ends are starting to curl, slightly, might change them this fall. Or not.

The driver's side rubber started to tear after 19 months, so I opted to replace all three inserts. Not at all difficult, just take it slow and be methodical. $30 for all three inserts.

Part Numbers (if you're so inclined)
    RUBBER, WIPER, RH. 85214-78010
    RUBBER, WIPER, LH 85214-47110
    RUBBER, REAR WIPER 85214-47010

All of those inserts are no longer available according to my dealer. But others have written good reviews on the Trico Blades below

TRICO Exact Fit 28-17B Beam Wiper Blade

    TRICO TRI:16-17B Beam Wiper Blade

Trico 16-A Exact Fit Rear Wiper Blade

That's really odd that the dealer doesn't have access to parts from a current model car.

It was understandable going back a while - someone went to buy some when their car was less than 12 mths old and the dealer didn't have them - but with cars now over 3yrs old and some may be due to have them replaced.

Tell me about it. I've purchased them twice but now they are listed as not for sale.

Well, the length for the rear hatch wiper replacement rubber was right ....

Just wish I compared the replacement to the original before spending a frustrating 15 minutes on this.

Will I lose my man card if I have the dealer do the swap?

You'd think the dealer would get it right - they did ask for the YEAR or VIN? I've found more and more they ask for more details - their Microfiche (they still use microfiche - NOPE) should alert them to there being different versions for different vehicles. Even my 1995 Mazda, they'd usually ask for a VIN or Engine Number.

The 78010 is for the front right hand blade (see my post #9). The length is the same for the front RH and the rear wiper (I believe both are 16"), but the "connection", as you show, is different. Why, I have no idea...

I believe the rubber inserts are made for Toyota by Nippon Wiper Blade Co., Ltd., now part of DENSO Wiper Systems. The front inserts are 700 mm and 400 mm long, of NWB’s “AS” type (※). The rear insert is also 400 mm long, but it’s NWB’s thicker “TN” type, seen in the photo @ATHiker kindly shared in post #16, with two embedded metal strips that must be removed and transferred to the new insert.

NWB has a web page with replacement instructions and videos (all in Japanese):

Front wiper blades: Instructions (PDF), Video (YouTube)
AS type inserts: Instructions (PDF), Video (YouTube)

Rear wiper blade: Instructions (PDF), Video (YouTube)
TN type insert: Instructions (PDF), Video (YouTube)

(※) The design for the front wipers changed for model year 2018 (production dates from November 2017), but only on Prius cars built for sale in Japan. These use a different style of blades and inserts, of NWB’s “DW” type, with different Toyota part numbers.

The inserts are marked with date codes, with the year in Arabic numerals and the month indicated by dots. For example, the code 19 ·˙· ❘ ·˙· ❘ ·˙· ❘ ·˙ would appear on an insert produced in November 2019.
The dealer is mistaken—I just bought some recently—or perhaps wishes to sell you blades instead.
