    +1!
Personally, (1) the simplicity of the mechanical parts of the propulsion system in a BEV, (2) the quiet ride, and (3) the smoothness of the acceleration are huge benefits.
    1. Mechanical simplicity means fewer and much simpler mechanical repairs. The “major overhaul” of Pipistrel BEV electric airplanes consists in replacing exactly 2 parts: the front and rear main bearings of the rotating shaft. (If electronics fail, the repairs are complex, but well-designed electronics have very long lifespans)
    2. Riding motorcycles for many years, I came to value quietness as I could use hearing to increase the 360-degree situational awareness of other traffic. Binaural hearing is remarkably good at telling you of ICE vehicles directly behind you or in the left and right rear blind spots.
    3. Having a smooth, non-peaky torque curve is a godsend to maintaining control and avoiding breaking loose when nearing the limits of adhesion whilst cornering. That is valuable in a BEV automobile, but absolutely critical on a BEV motorcycle because loss of rear-wheel adhesion when leaned over in a hard corner immediately throws you into the weeds,
    So I strongly agree with @Zythryn .

if they can get these things down to where the repairs of electronics, batteries and motors are reasonable, i think they'll have a winner

How much more "reasonable" does it need to be?

BEV is basically no maintenance as it is today.

Every vehicle can have horror stories. A BEV by design doesn't have those problems. They can be added back in with poorly designed complexity (Tesla) or added in with poor design (Leaf's passively cooled pack). But that's a function of specific design not architecture.

Just like I won't buy a GM vehicle because the reliability is crap compared to a Toyota gasser. GM vehicles aren't unreliable because they're gassers. GM's gassers are unreliable because they have poor design.

The math and convenience (logic) of Toyota Hybrid still works best for our daily use vehicles. However, now that our Son has moved on...I love wasting money and gas (not logical) with my pre-smog, big block Toy. I'm 60+ and took care of my business in life...so...now it's my turn to play!

I would love to get a Volt ... but the warrantee kinda sucks.

    3 yr/36,000 mi basic, 5 yr/60,000 mi powertrain

It's kinda like GM doesn't have all that much faith in their product.

That's the same as Prius and all other Toyota cars, isn't it?

I believe those were the case for any hybrids to get CARB credits at one time.

3/36 and 5/60 is the industry standard for non luxury cars (and not VW. VW has the longer 4/50 bumper to bumper warranty)

I was told today at the toyota finance desk that you can’t call it a bumper to bumper as cosmetics aren’t included :p.

And it’s not a warranty, but an “extended service contract”;).

Huh. Fair enough. I think Canada now calls it Limited New Car Warranty.

I still have my shovel to dig up landfills full of Prius batteries.

Over time, the rate of infantile problems decrease significantly. The initial production will ALWAYS have problem like the Gen-3 "Brake Pause." But this was also one of the first 'broken' car parts fixed by a software update.

If one chooses to believe that BEVs are barely able to survive the car loan, nothing we post here will shake that belief. Sometimes, you just have to part ways, dust your shoes, and let God protect the sparrows.
