As long as you don't fall into the "synthetic is always better" trap. Plenty of Subaru owners found out the hard way.

Another thing in case of Hybrids is dielectric property of the fluid as well. Not Just viscosity and lubrication.

I sure do not want to take any chances, even knowing valvoline maxlife probably wold not cause any harm.

$20 saving and a vague notion the aftermarket fluid is "better"?

Hey man, let the guy use the fluid he wants. He’s either clueless or a troll. I’m gonna do the happy dance when he goes away.

I’m a thrifty lad too, but I have my limits;).

My Prius doesn’t do anything close to needing designer fluids. So I use what is spec’d:).

    But that’s one simple man’s approach(y).

Possible to get your neighbor to help change your transmission fluid.

Yeah but it's an oil thread. There was the Announcement of Annexation of the Other Oil, then the Heaping of Scorn Ceremony, now which bit is next? Sacrifice of the Innocents?

I have to admit I use the Valvoline in my 2005 Tacoma. I would NEVER use it in my Prius. Why? Because my Tacoma has a traditional transmission. The Prius uses it to cool the MG’s. Way different.

It's worth clarifying that I've got nothing against Valvoline myself, have considered it for our Hyundai, and I know plenty of people who have used it successfully in other cars. It seems like a great choice for a lot of cars. But I agree with you & other posters above about sticking to the WS in a Prius for electrical tolerances.

The OP is in my opinion a troll. He just talks crazy stuff to rile people up. I honestly wonder if he really owns a Prius or just comes here to stir it up. Either way the guy is a clown. It would not surprise me if the guy was banned here before. Perhaps the mods should check his MAC and IP address
