Does a 2010 Toyota Prius caliper bracket fit in a 2012 Prius? I want to know because I am thinking of buying it from a junkyard. Does anyone know?

Junkyard: 2010 bracket for $40-$50 (I can pickup on the way to work)
Dealership: 2012 bracket for $188 (I also have to wait 1 week for the order)
RockAuto: 2012 entire caliper assembly $128 (I have to wait for shipping)

I want to replace the caliper bracket because of uneven break pad wear. The caliper pin was rusted and stuck inside the caliper bracket three years ago. I tried sanding the pin holes and pin, but I lost a pair of pads instead due to uneven wear after the winter. Last year, I replaced the caliper pin, boot and sleeve ring. Replacing the caliper bracket would be good insurance.

I have serviced my Prius brakes more than three times now. I have since started checking the orientation of the piston, but I still get uneven wear. I am going to replace the bracket because it was previously rusted out.

Can you take the old part with you to compare them? I would be concerned that a 2010 part from an auto wrecker in the Toronto area could have corrosion problems as well. If you can eyeball the used part for condition and to see if it is the same as the one that you took off then I think you have covered yourself as much as possible. Worst case you are out of pocket $40.00.

If I take the old part out, I can't drive my car. I haven't bought anything from an autowrecker before, but the part is listed as Grade A on car-part.com

What I can do is buy the part first and see if it fits. If it doesn't, I can attempt to return it.

Part number is often embossed on the part, if it's substantial enough. Check yours first, and then check the part at the yard.
