I've been mulling over a HyCam or HyValon, but want ICS, aka parking sensors. It seems these are only available on the highest trim levels for both vehicles.

Maybe I've been spoiled by our gen 4, but it seems odd to have this feature only available on top trim levels. Bordering on a deal breaker for me.

    Am I missing something?

ICS and plain parking sensors are two different things.

If you just want parking sensors, you can get them installed aftermarket (as it has been done for over 2 decades). But if you want ICS, then yes it's only available on the top trim levels for now since they are an optional safety feature.

Aren't they standard on Gen 4 since late 2017?
I missed out by getting an early 2017.

On the Prius, yes but not on other Toyotas.

Nice to see the Prius back on the leading edge of technology... sort of.

And I just realised 2 decades is barely into the 90s lol. Time flies.

The Prius has always been a bit of a tech showcase, besides the hybrid system, for Toyota. My 2005 Three had SKS, and the only other Toyota models to have it at the time were at the Lexus dealer.

I wished Toyota had rested on their 3rd gen styling and storage laurels a bit longer. :cautious:

Thanks, what's the rough cost of aftermarket sensor installation, and can I get it done by Toyota?

Depends on your budget. As cheap as $20 (but looks aftermarket) to about $70 based on what I see on Amazon.

You can get any installer to do it for you. It depends on what shop rate you're willing to spend on. Toyota shop rates are higher than something like Best Buy Audio/Geek Squad or whatever it's called now.
