    Just ran it dry from an EV perspective ;).

    I’m not like @Grit in this regard :whistle:.

    Ask him where his rear seats are:).

    The front seat may soon find its place next to it if it’ll save another mpg (y).

    My other guess was you coated it with tar.

    Removing your front seat would make you a back seat driver.

    Roughly 2,170 miles so far on this tank and it's still a tiny bit over 1/2 tank on the gas gauge. I'll burn a little more gas tomorrow night. Then will probably not need to run the engine till we start out on our vacation trip this coming Friday.

    I was amused yesterday. My wife was going over the credit card bill. She said, "You didn't get gas this month?" Meaning this billing cycle which is late March/late April. I said, nope. I haven't bought gas since March 9.

    More than offset, I'm afraid. But once Social Security checks start coming, I'll pay it off pretty quickly.

    First full month with the Prime. Color me gobsmacked!! :)

    1,286 miles in April.

    0.6 L/km. With rounding that could be anywhere from 0.55-0.64, which is 368 - 428 mpg. Call it an even 392 mpg.

    5.2 miles/kWh even with the new tires the past week and a half. BTW, the m/kWh is slowly coming back up. yesterday was 5.2 after driving over 40 miles.

    Day after tomorrow we start our vacation trip and we'll see how it does on the Interstate with two people and luggage.

    Gas gauge is a pixel or two above 1/2. I'll top it off tomorrow night so we start the trip Friday with a full tank. Day one looks like 529 miles. I'm eager to see if that's a one-tank trip. Maybe not. We'll have a late start and I won't be hyper miling. :whistle: Day two looks like 477 miles. Looks like an easy one-tank drive. We shall see!

    I'll be heading out on a long trip shortly after you. 750 miles first day on Interstates then mostly shorter days on Interstates and back roads. Will be interesting to compare notes.

    Don't worry Jerry, you'll blow your great mileage and no gas cost in no time flat come Friday ;) I hope you can plug in free some times while on your trip.

    I'm up to 92 MPG on 500+ miles on my current tank. Over 200 of that was from where I got gas in Skowhegan ME on the way back from New Brunswick, EV range was about 3 miles since I had nowhere to plug in. I arrived home with 64 MPG showing. Tank meter shows just shy of 1/2 tank now.

    You guys ARE spoiled. I think my average in Gen 4 is just under 64 mpg. Many people would be exstatic with that mileage.

    Evidence of my spoiledness (That's a word now because I just invented it.):
    Last night on the way home from church, the traffic lights were even more screwed up than usual.
    • 55-60 mph
    • 17.5 miles
    • 18 traffic lights
    • 18 of them red
    • 3 of them at the last second, so no regeneration
    • mostly hard starts from traffic pressure
    • 55.5 mpg when it should have been more like 70
    When I expressed my disgust to my wife about our idiot traffic engineers and their battle against clean air, my wife said something like, "Aw, poor baby. You crushed every other car out there for economy." My paraphrase of her statement. :ROFLMAO:

    I feel your frustration. coming into town they have purposely times the lights so you hit red.
    The local government somehow feels if you need to stop you may stop & shop more. I do not see the logic in that, but suffer the consequences.

    This is a bit of a stretch in logic. Have you asked the local traffic engineer how and why the lights are timed?

    ^ Can sympathize on that traffic hell.

    On the upside, this is the best car for that kind of routine, at least given that most of the rest are terrible.

    I actually look forward to a modest traffic jam now, as my commute home usually takes a 65 mph highway down to 45 for a time, and I can run far longer in EV than I could otherwise. The other day, a 60 MPG commute on a good day became 70 thanks to the lower speeds.

    I find that by taking the surface streets to run errands it takes a few extra minutes and greatly extends the EV range. In the past, with my VW TDI, the vehicle was more efficient on the freeway, so that was my preferred path. Now, it's the side streets and that is typically the shortest path as well.

    I've noticed that too. If it didn't take me from 25-30 minutes to close to an hour for that particular destination, I'd probably jump off the highway as well. Especially since I've found the surface streets a bit more calming lately.

    I used to live in northwest Ohio. I kinda remember side streets and alternate routes from my years there. And I miss them. From my house to church, the two "best" alternates are over 20 miles out of the way. To work is even worse. There are no side streets that go through for either destination. Planners here like to cram as many cars as possible into as few roads as possible, especially during hurricane evacuations.

    On another note:
    The Prime got gas today. How about that??!!! (I'm almost 66 so it doesn't make sense to say "I got gas," because I always have gas. :ROFLMAO:) I topped off the tank prior to tomorrow's big adventure. It took 5.811 gallons for 2,280 miles. Counting electricity, I spent $44.85 for those miles. The same miles at the same gas price with a 28 mpg car would have been $191.22 more. Even a 49 mpg Gen 2 would have cost an extra $90.

    You are correct. I was ecstatic the few times I got over 60 MPG on 10 or more gallons in my Gen II. Had to be back roads with rolling hills and VERY few traffic controls. The 64 MPG trip I posted that you quoted was all 50 MPH or less roads with lots of slow downs for small towns. The 70 MPH parts of the trip, with no EV capacity left were just under 50 MPG. Which just about killed me. And yes 99% of the motoring population would think I'd done really well compared to what they drive. Doesn't matter, I'm used to ~45 MPG in winter in the Gen II and 50-55 MPG regularly in the summer. Anything less than that is just unacceptable. Now I'm getting spoiled with the EV enhancement to my MPG.

    You have to wonder sometimes. Something is clearly off when you hit EVERY red light even when you are the lead dog at the last one. No sense getting up to speed when you know you can't make the next light without exceeding reasonable acceleration and the speed limit as well. Of course the people behind get all POed not realizing they would be stopping at the next light no matter who, or no one, was in front of them.

    There are some demand signals. They will trip based on time occasionally just in case something like a motorcycle is waiting but doesn't trip the sensor. But usually they will trip at some time after a vehicle shows up which really screws the pattern on the major road.

    First day at work after our big road trip and first real Florida day in the Prime. Quite a hit to the EV range.

    I'm pretty sure that, after our 6,012 mile trip this month, the new tires are pretty limbered up. I had a lunch meeting today and when I got in the car, it was reading 102F. Yikes!!! It felt like it, too. Once I got moving, it went down to an even 100F.

    The round trip was 27.5 miles and I had 1.7 miles of EV range showing on the GOM when I got back to the office. Including my 9.5 mile drive to work this morning when it was a bitter-cold 72F, I'm showing 5.0 m/kWh so far today. Not as nice as the numbers a month ago which usually gave me 35-38 miles per charge, but it's still more than satisfactory to me.

    Another observation and it's one I made in my thread about our road trip, but I want to include it here. The seats in this car a simply amazing coming from a PiP and a couple Gen 2s. Not one bit of discomfort even on a 750+ mile day.
