Question about legality of mirror led turn signals in Socal

    Hello, I recently installed one of the turn signal mirror kits from Top Sage. I notice that when the headlights are on there is also a white light on the mirrors that also turns on. Just wondering if 1) Did I install these correctly lol (everything else works. ambers work correctly, puddle lights work correctly) and 2) Has anyone ever had any trouble with police? I live in L.A., white driving lights on mirrors isnt a very common sight, I'm curious if theres any laws against this ?

    Interesting question.
    White light...viewable from the front while driving?

    Just a guess, I'd bet legally needs to be amber.

    New cars has'em also and I see them here at times. Sounds like you did a great install too because it's all working as it should. Upload pictures, LED nerds like me are fanatic about this stuff.

    Yeah, I think white light indicates a vehicle coming towards you. White back up lights, the same idea.

    Which way do the white lights FACE.....forward or back ??

    The Federal Uniform Vehicle codes dictates that you can not have a white light facing to the rear......except for a weak little license plate light.

    So in the end, it might depend on how bright it is.
    If it is bright enough that it is noticeable for anybody farther back than your rear bumper, I think you might technically be in violation.

    BUT....what possibly could the purpose of that be......except maybe to tell you that your headlights are ON ??

    If you can contact the company that made it, it might be possible to disable the white lights, IE cut a wire.

    I'll take of pic of them while on tonight or tomorrow. Yes they face forward, and yeah it should be possible to disable them from being on. It looks cool though! But yeah it seems a bit different and I dont want any heat from the fuzz lol

    (BTW I originally bought an unpainted set but didnt want to deal with painting the mirror covers and then ordered a set of painted mirror covers. So I have a set of led signals with unpainted covers I'm looking to sell if any one is interested. I should make a post in the classifieds for that..)

    You should have no problem then.
    I'm pretty sure that several new model cars come with similar things.

    As long as the face forward and do not blind oncoming cars, they should be fine.
    Think fog lights.
