Anyone notice the EV range estimator is capped at 50.0 miles? I know it's a hard limit because it reaches 50.0 miles at 96% SOC and never goes above while SOC goes to 100%. Then, while driving on EV, it stays 50.0 miles until I get to 96% SOC. A little math tells me that my real estimated EV range at 100% charge is somewhere around 52 miles, but the car refuses to display it.

Just switch your screen to the miles/kw . That ones max is 99.9 miles/kw
which if you can sustain that mark you'll have driven almost 550 miles.

Wow! 50 miles EV range!!! That would be ~8.3 miles/kWh. PRIME is rated to only ~4 miles/kWh. Are you sure you are driving PRIME, not Clarity??? AMAZING if true.

Probably that same way I peg my Gen3 non-plugin at 99.9 MPG for nearly 100 miles.

I believe it. We hit like 45 estimated last year. The last picture I took (because it was getting completely unrealistic) was at 42.

So, you are saying the number is just for the GOM and not the actual EV range you can achieve? My GOM has been pretty accurate in estimating my true EV range ~32 miles.

the gom is based on past driving. yours is accurate because your driving is probably fairly similar most of the time.
but if you did something completely different (like starting at the top of a 100 mile hill or something) it would not be as accurate.

a more realistic analogy for me is that i'm currently showing and getting 12-13 miles around town.
but if took her out on the highway, i'd probably get around 6.

Are you actually getting near 50 miles per charge, or is it just being wildly optimistic?

Yes, I perfectly understand that past performance is no guarantee of future results and your mileage may vary, but in order to get that 50 miles EV range displayed on GOM, you have to do something to get the car think you can go 50 miles on EV. Like your example of starting at the top of a 100 mile hill. So, if you are doing this every day, then yeah you can actually achieve 50 miles of down hill drive all on EV. But I got impression that some people who are getting overly optimistic estimate on GOM are actually not achieving the goal either in the past or in future. So, my question is this. Does GOM often estimate overly optimistic range that is realistically impossible to achieve, or is that estimation actually based on the actual past performance despite very rare and hard to replicate?

Neither have I. As I stated, my GOM has been fairly accurate in estimating actual EV range. That's why I asked the question to @a_gray_prius. His comment made me to think he is seeing overly optimistic range.

I’m not sure whom you’re replying to, but FWIW, my drive to work is 19 miles, but I need to charge to 21ish on the GoM to make it there reliably, with pretty much zero when I get there.
