Hi I have a 2014 prius c. Did oil change at 49,000. Next oil change due at 56,095. Right now have 55,108. At 54,000 it said maintenance required soon and went to the drive information. Now when I start my car it says maintenance required but I have to manually press display to get to the drive information. Any idea what should be done?

... and reset the reminder, just as the owner's manual says.

    welcome!

    1) i thought oil was every 10k? check your o/m. either way, not sure why you are planning a change at 7,095 miles.

    2) maintenance required soon is just the beginning of the nightmare. check your service manual, it has detailed service every 5k.

    3) if you ignore maintenance required soon, it becomes maintenance required after a time. there is a reset procedure in the o/m. it is a bit of a nightmare, but after 10 or 20 try, i manage to reset it.

4)coinkidink: i just got the maintenance required soon today!

    5) all the best!(y)

1). Maintaince soon comes on every 5000 mi for mine, oil change or no oil change. It’s for tire rotation and other stuff.

2). Calm down, it’s only an oil change & tire rotation :p

3). Oil change places will turn the reminder off. Or with engine on, have trip a on display, turn car off, turn back on and immediately hold the mph/km button down til the status bar flow from left to right is complete on MDF.

4). Mine has been on since 2000 miles ago. The date is still 2011 on my MDF.

Ok but I changed the oil at 49,000. Its 55,000 about right now. And its maintenance required right now. I have to press display to get rid of it. So should I change my oil? The sticker next oil change says 56,081 miles

I'm not planning to change it at 7,095 miles. Just asking if I should because it says maintenance required.

The "soon" message begins 4,500 miles after the reminder was last reset. In other words, it gives you 500 miles to prepare for the upcoming service. When you reach 5,000 miles since last reset, it switches to "maintenance required" and remains on the screen. The idea is that it gives you a subtle reminder 500 miles before service is due, then if you don't reset the reminder, it stays on the screen annoying you until you reset the reminder.

    Steps:
    1. Hold down a button.
    2. Poke and release another button.
    3. Wait a few seconds for confirmation message to appear.
    4. Release first button.

Even I can withstand that much pain occasionally.

This light does not know the condition of your oil. It is simply a counter that repeats every 5,000 miles since it was last reset.

My Maintenance required light is still lit from 2,500 miles ago. Oil and filter were self-hand selected so i can safely go pass 5,000 mi w/o changing If your not sure, get it change when you can.
