I feel that i'm half way through. anybody out there that could realistically "suggest" a reasonable expectation for a completion time/date for this job?

To get the EGR cooler clean? Three cans of carb or brake cleaner, 5 more hours of oxyclean soaking, or 3 minutes at your local self service car wash.

actually, I was more concerned on the guestimate of getting in the car in driving it "time"
but the egr cleaning time does seem reasonable, and yes, I agree, it keeps on giving!

cnc97, Thank you VERY much. I'll give you "the tip of the day" award(y)! I have a pressure washer but was too cautious, I guess, to use it. I was concerned of damaging the cooling fins, like on a radiator. Now I'm seeing the steel fins are significantly stiffer, and strong enough to use said washer....4000psi did the trick. thanks again cnc97....

@Raytheeagle's was 2700 psi IIRC. So going higher it still survived, good "data point".

That first pic of the cooler is pretty atrocious btw: how many miles is that at again?

And good avatar: family portrait 'round (what's left of) the family car. :)

I spent 3) 10 hour days and had a good time doing it.
Anyone could do better or worse.
If you don't need the car, it may never get done, but you're in this for the thrill of it.

Now I have had my engine out 4 times. Three of which could have been prevented. But the last time, when I was repairing the dead cylinder, I started at 9am, on the stand at 1045, torn down for inspection around 1130, parts purchased at 1215, reassembled at 2, installed at 315, and driving home at 5pm. But I had enough “experience” and mine had been apart recently.

It can be done as fast, or as slow as you want. And if you have competent help, that’s a huge advantage.

Hello...........Poppie! You must be over 45 years of age, as hand cramps seem to be the norm for doing repairs, either around the house or on my cars. As for the holes in your engine block, what the heck? The dealer didn't see this? LoL!

stopping here @ round/part 11 of ragingfit's series. the "WOODS" are still a little scary. Again, thank you sooo much for those videos....I would have never attempted this swap without see those.

mendel, this Prius has 170,000 miles on it. that's myself w/ 2 of 9 grand-kiddos & one pathetic auto!:(

ragingfit, thanks for the timing, i'm definitely slower but still expect a great outcome, but right now "the thrill is gone!" maybe it'll be back in the morning...

cnc97, that's too fast for me...no help either, except those two little pigs at times....

Montgomery, the cases broke when I "powered" it up the last time and drove it off the trailer, which left a stream of oil behind, all the way into the shop. the dealer said "put on a new thermostat w/ new coolant. then I drove it for 20 miles or so. NPF" (no problem found) the other day I went by and showed him some pics, he seemed shocked or maybe amused....you nailed it close, 47 years young!
