6.1-6.3 kWh from the wall using L2, 6.4-6.7 kWh with L1.

I meant in terms of $$ value.

Multiply that by whatever the electric rate ($/kWh) at your home.
At my region, the electric rate is very high at ~$0.20/kWh. Thus full charge cost me $0.20/kWh x 6.5 kWh = ~$1.30. The electricity rate differs vastly from a region to region.

Right. That's what I was curious about to see electric rate from other places. I pay $0.11/kwh and the nice
thing is there's no peak hours. The rate is $0.11/kwh 24/7. For my 2018 Prime, it takes 1'50" hr to do a full charge
240V@20A and it will give me ~35.1 miles. Interestingly, when I was charging using 120V, I was
never able to get to the 30 mile mark. But with the 240V, I get 35.1 average. I never understand.
Anyone can educate me on this?

Huh??? A fully charged traction battery is a fully charged traction battery whether you use L2 or L1. The difference in GOM is from your previous driving and irrelevant to what EVSE you used for charging.

That's a good idea. I'll try the 120V again. Will post next time.

I am late to the discussion here and it seems like @SydneyNJ is now convinced that a warm up is not necessary (which I also agree with with driving Prius vehicles for 13 years). However, I just thought I would suggest one other idea that wasn’t mentioned if there is still a desire to pre-warm the engine would be to just add a block heater, which Toyota offers as an accessory. Simpler option than trying to make a remote starter fire up the ICE, which is not intended to do on this vehicle...

    But again, not really necessary...

There is a a/c button on the remote control of the car. This should be what you are looking for if i am not mistaken? It will either start the a/c in summer or heat in winter. Engine kicks is when battery below needed charge or if it s too cold for the heat pump to work right ( T < -15c) as far as i observed with my prime. Leaving a/c on before shutting down car will defrost upon remote climate action.
I do not understand why anyone would want the engine to start when not needed physically with a power plugged car or charged battery. To make the air around your house smell like gasoline ? In Tennessee some guys really get high doing it !

If you read the rest of the thread, you notice that we've gone through this discussion already. OP wanted to start the ICE to warm-up the engine during winter out of old habit and probably due from the misinformation he was given in the past. That being said, FYI my recollection is that the remote climate control will not start the engine even if it's below 14F. Furthermore, depending on the climate, AC on and using the heat pump is not strong enough to defrost the frozen windshield and as the heat pump is ineffective below 14F, it will have no effect below that temp. I can not start the windshield defroster by the remote climate from the fob on Premium model, but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Advanced model has a phone app that can do this.

I have owned this car only for several weeks and haven't really touched/played with all the features in the car.
Only been pressing lock/unlock buttons on my remote and yes, I did see the A/C button. I need to go through the
    manual to read up.

But are you sure you need to have the A/C "ON" before shutting off or did you mean HEAT?

Toyota calls "A/C" meaning HVAC that include both cooling and heating functions. Both cooling and heating in PRIME at temp above 14F are handled by a heat pump powered by the traction battery. The remote A/C can be used for climate prepping when hot (to cool down the cabin) or when cold (to warm up the cabin) before you enter the car.

when the engine starts its warm up process, it will not shut down until reaching temp

this is done for pollution reasons.

Yap, @bisco explained it. This is the warm-up cycle the engine goes through after it starts. During this cycle, even if you have plenty of EV range left, the engine will not shut down, but once the warm-up cycle is complete it will shut down automatically. It is not the same type of engine "warm-up" by idling before you start driving if that's what you are thinking.

So when the car goes through this phase of the start up process, does temperature come into play?

What temperature? The car will warm itself to coolant temperature. If it is cold out or the engine hasn't run recently, achieving this coolant temperature will take longer than if the engine starts at a higher temperature.

I was referring to the outside temp.

At a lower ambient temperature and all other things being equal, it will take longer for the ICE to reach normal operating temperature.

I guess, if the outside temp is colder it will take longer to complete the warm-up cycle, but how much, I don't know. My PRIME finishes initial morning warm-up cycle in less than 2 min most of the times even when the car sits cold outside in sub-zero (F) temp after I start driving the car.
